Chips: 5,912 | | | Hsp 9/11 So what did everyone think of last nights show....
Not really too many interesting hands. DN made a good bet when the scare card A came on the turn to get Juanda out of the pot with pkt 8s. Also I was suprised that Juanda just called on the flop with the top pair and flush draw. I guess the problem if he moves in is that he is probably only getting called by hands that he is behind (aka a set or two pair like Laak had).
Going to watch the last of the dvr'ed episode when I get home from work so maybe something exciting happens in the last 15 minutes I haven't seen. |

It was interesting that DN never lies when he tells folks his hand. If they watch this I would think they'd gain a lot of info on Daniel for their next meeting. I can't stand watching Deavid Grey play, I wish he'd get some glasses or sunglasses to fix all that squinting, every play it looks like he's in pain... Ted Forrest seemed rather subdued this episode and Juanda made some strange plays.

Chips: 5,912 | | | Re: Hsp 9/11 it always seems to me that Gray smells something bad. I think DN doesn't mind being honest with his hands because if you read his blog and watch him play he definitely makes nearly all of his decisions as a reaction to the plays that others make. His decision whether or not to play two cards and the way to play them changes a great deal depending on the various factors in the hand. Because of that I don't think he really gives anything away. The other players no that he is capable of playing his hands completely differently so they can only make so much use of the info.
Did anyone else notice Hoyt Corkins standing in the background? I'm wondering if he is going to sit down. Everytime I see him I keep thinking he is just an average player who is getting lucky, but he constantly surprises me. Always plays better than I expect and seems to have great instincts. |

Juanda showed the discipline and good judgment of a pro in that instance, imho. |

Juanda asks Lindgren what he had, and conjuring up Rounders, he responds, "Sorry John, I don't remember."
that was the highlight for me. |

Don't forget, he's old-school, he just took a decade long break to be with his family on his ranch.
One thing I find so entertaining is that he's SO INCREDIBLY AGGRESSIVE. You get in a pot with Hoyt Corkins, any pot, and it's likely to be a big confrontation. The "young guns" over on 2+2 think they invented that style. Hoyts is proof of "prior art". If anyone gets the patent, it's him.

His commentary is one of the few good things about Poker Superstars III. He is able to explain the actions of all of the different pros despite the fact that there are so many diverse styles in the tournament. I would love to hear his insight in a cash game.
While I know this has been mentioned before, I would love to see them play limit mixed games like O8, TD, stud8, etc. Then it would be like really watching high stakes poker. My guess is they would never agree to that though as it would be giving too much away. Everyone has already seen these guys play NL on tv multiple times, but seeing them play high limit cash games would really be getting into their heads.
enough for my morning post...back to work... |
