Watched this movie yesterday...relatively entertaining, especially for a movie filmed in the 60's....

Any opinions?

That last hand was a killer, and maybe a little unrealistic, especially in stud...but at least he got the girl back...

Also, 5-card stud seems to be a game geared towards a lot of bluffing...yes? no? Never played it before...

I had a hard time watching this movie. Does not hold your attention well.

I think film making has com a long way since the 60s.

But over all it is a poker movie and isn't half bad just for that.

Well it does feature Steve McQueen, which means it has the automatic bad ass quotient has been met. I remember really liking this from years ago but it doesn't hold up as well as I thought. It's entertaining enough with some great acting performances, Robinson and Malden particularly. It does drag in parts.

Film making has come a long way since the 60s, but not always for the better. I could easily name dozens of top notch flicks from that era that have not been bettered.

The best gambling movie involving poker is "California Split" by Robert Altman.

This is the movie that made me a McQueen fan. I went out and got Bullitt right after this. I thought it was fun.

I agree with some of you that the movie pales somewhat t owhat is produced now. But there was difinitely some talent in the movie.

It's can be a bit stale to play since so much information is known (4/5th of each players hand). In the right circumstance in can be a rockin' rollin' gamblin' extravaganza, but in general it plays pretty boring in my experience (like Omaha Hi in the home game setting).
