Chips: 1,140 | | | Plasma HD TV's and Travel Channel Poker burn in Here's an interesting thing I just learned...for you plasma TV owners...
Of course, the week of the Heads up tournament when I need my TV, the dam thing no longer has a picture....soooooo
I have a nice gray screen now that has no picture....in the background I can now see in the upper left hand corner, the "pot size" graphic and in the lower right corner the Travel Channel logo...burned into my new 42 " plasma TV that does not work
After I called Phillips for assistance, of course they have to send someone out which will not happen for some time...what am I going to do with all this poker I'm going to miss on TV ???? What they told me is that any channel that has a fixed type logo or graphic that it will burn in...same for ESPN's rolling score bar at the bottom...all of this will burn into the screen.
They told me to change channels more often when not in the room so the TV has a chance to refresh...Now why would I turn the channel when Shauna is on during the breaks |

Do LCD's have the same problems?
(oh, and my condolences on your plasma...)

(oh, and my condolences on your plasma...) | LCD's no problem....stay away from Plasma's at all costs. They are not worth it and all other channels are blurry if not in HD. |

Higher quality plasmas (Pioneer, Fuji, and a few others) offer a much better picture than an LCD is capable of reproducing - specifically the color black. I agree that lower quality plasmas look pretty bad in sdtv but you can't beat plasma for hdtv IMHO. |

Tube tvs are still the best for your buck HDTV system.
Once SED comes out then we all will be happy

Thanks in advance for any info. |

LCD's are good but DLP's are the best. 61 inch Mitsubishi and Samsungs are top of the line right now. You won't be dissappointed. The LCD tv's leave something called a screen door effect which means if your to the left or right of the tv it seems darker, unless your sitting directly in front for the best picture. With the DLP tv's this don't happen ,nice picture from all angles,no shadows. They also tested the longevity of all tv's ,Plasma,LCD and Dlp's. In a room they left all the three TV's running for months straight without shutting them off and noticed that the picture quality got poor on the plasma and LCD's before the DLP's. Hope this helps anyone out who's looking to drop a pretty penny on a HD TV. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
