Shall I buy a Pro Edition Poker Genie?

I'm currently thinking about getting a Poker Genie to replace my usual timer I run on a laptop. Please let me know your thoughts on the subject and your experiences using a Poker Genie.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm in the same boat you are Blake. I've been using HPT's large poker timer for the last few months. It works very well for us and I keep the current blind level displayed where everyone can see it. That being said, I've almost pulled the trigger NUMEROUS times on a Genie....just haven't been convinced enough.

IMO if you have a laptop, you should be running Tournament Director. The Poker Genie is great, but only if you don't have a laptop available.

There is an investment in making TD work (esp version 2), but it's worth it.

I love me genie!

if your like me and your tourney structure never changes, you set it up once and never have to worry about it again.you can even add in breaks for coloring up.you can easily see the display from across the room and hear it a mile away.

Re: Shall I buy a Pro Edition Poker Genie?

I've played with different sturctures in the past to see what works best but have now settled on one particular structure.

Re: Shall I buy a Pro Edition Poker Genie?

I'd LIKE to reccomend the Genie, really I would. I have very few quibbles about how it works aside from the damn speaker being scary loud when the level changes (and not adjustable). I just find that it's like a lot of other gadgets I have - after a while I just don't bother to use it because I am either able to use my PDA, a laptop, or a kitchen timer.

They are nice though if you'd really keep using them. I just don't think I've gotten proper value from mine.
