Looks like a lot of smoke and a truckload of mirrors to me.

Guess I'm in a real minority here. Many of mine are just for looking at. I bought my mint casino chipsets more as a collector than a player. I've got plenty of beautiful and expensive non-mint casino chipsets as well as several awesome fantasy chipsets. Those get lots of play.

Jamby -- you only live once -- go for it, put THOSE chips into play! You'll love it. You can always sell them later as "almost mint" -- you bought them, now enjoy them!

Re: What's the most expensive chipset you've played a full home game with

Virtually every Saturday night we play .50/$1 with our 1000 set of $1 average cost ASM inlayed customs from the last big group buy/choose your own chips from ASM.

My wife was hesitant about the purchase (cough*investment*cough) at first but, she loves them now. They FEEL like money and everyone knows it.

I think the set cost about $1200 by the time it was shipped and all the dust settled with ordering extra chips, (I got like 3 of each, doh!) etc.

Re: What's the most expensive chipset you've played a full home game with

I wonder if anyone plays with a chip set where the face value of the chip is worth the same as real money? i.e. using a Vineyard 1,2,3, 10, and 25!

As I was packing up the last of my vineyards tonight to ship off, it suddenly dawned on me that these chips have a face value that is worth real money of an equivalent value even though they are obsolete.

Before I found CT, I used real Bellagio chips for my cash game.

Re: What's the most expensive chipset you've played a full home game with

Its funny since the game I host is tournament followed by cash game and my tournament set (for now) is cold stamped faux clays and even with the recently added grays and oranges I have under $75 in that set. I use my orignal JB set for the cash game and I have well over $1k in that set.

Re: What's the most expensive chipset you've played a full home game with

I used to use my original Paulson bonds all the time when I had weekly games, but am now moving to Casino Royale chips -- small denominations for cash games, and large denominations for tournaments. I've found I get much less nervous when someone splashes the pot!
