What about the useless card "section" in these cases? No cards I own that come with a plastic case fit into this section either. Not even a single deck of KEMs unless you wrap them in a rubberband and toss the card case.
I personally solved it by just ripping out the dividers and making one big space to put a double deck of cards, a button and an oven timer in my traveling 500 chip set case. I then cut a piece of felt the size of the new larger area and hot glued it inside to cover where the cases felt ripped out a bit.
Doing this might get around the size restrictions a bit, and perhaps you could just use one of those dealer button timers I've seen around. | I'd want it to fit where the dice are...mainly because some people DO use the cards that came with the set, or at least cards that fit there....plus, it's more "fun" that way... |

I'm in NO WAY a designer (obvious, yes?) and I did this in POWERPOINT, but...
EDIT: Ten/Mods -- hope you don't mind my sticking the CT logo on there -- wouldn't do anythnig real with it without permission, of course -- this is just for illustration purposes. You could also put your custom chip logo there, obviously... |

We wanted something that fit in our chipcase that didn't take out anything important. We realized that if you stack your deck of cards on top of the other in a standard chipcase, you have one empty card cavity for a poker timer (and not just a timer, but a tournament director-a timer that keeps track of structures, blinds, antes, levels, breaks, etc).
We designed the PokerAce to do just that.
We made this timer the smallest that it could be and still show everything you needed to know. If we ever had thought we could get this into the size of the 5 dice in our chipset we would have done everything we could to make that work. Turns out though, it is extremely difficult to make these things small and do everything you want. Our product is the width and height of 1 deck of cards and not quite 2 decks of card deep. In the 'about the poker ace' you can see a picture of it in a chipcase.
You could probably get a standard timer, like the dealer button into your 5 dice, plus a number showing the level, all of this using an LCD and running off of a watch battery, no backlight.

You should start another thread in the poker gear section. This thing looks like it needs a thread of it's own. A non-biased (no disrespect intended but I would venture a guess that your own review may be influenced by your connection to the timer ) review would be great as well.

- Couga | Thanks for the advice, I will set up a new thread. And yes, I am sure I am the most biased person around regarding the Poker Ace PTD as I developed it.
You can read an unbiased review here http://www.homepokertourney.com/revi...-poker-ace.htm, but it would be awesome to get one of your own posters to review it. |

We have a real problem with a few players that just take forever to decide what they're going to do. |

We have a real problem with a few players that just take forever to decide what they're going to do. | I have been thinking about that all afternoon. It isn't hard to use our timer to put the clock on someone, just give them until time-1 minute (same with genie, and all of the software timers). But what I was thinking had nothing to do with our timer. It has to do with the new timer (dice clock).
What if the dice clock was exactly that, a 1 minute clock for action. It would be easy to build, you could put a red led in that flashed for the last 10 seconds and you would be likely to get every chip case on earth to use one over the dice. It would be a fantastic promotions tool and would cost around a buck each to produce.
The reason why I think this would be more effective than a blind timer is that you just shouldn't be using a simple clock to time your tournaments. You should be using some form of tournament director; software, poker genie, poker ace, something that keeps track of the blinds and the structures. As well, a timer should be relatively easy to read and those little lcds aren't easy for more than one or 2 people to read, especially when they aren't backlit and the backlight would draw a watch battery down quickly. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
