I don't know about 2.0. I figured after I read all the reviews on it, I wasn't going to waste the time for a DL and install to tinker with it. 2.0 IMO is a step back in several categories and some features that were implemented which were not well thought out. Again, IMO. YYMV.
While 1.3.x does a lot of what I want, (not all, but a lot) I'll use it for the time being. | I spent quite a while looking for the "Manage Players" box to uncheck, and I couldn't find it.

I would assume it would be close to the same.

This is also the reason why i went back to v1.35. |

I have played with the 2.0 a bit, but the biggest problem is that there seems to be no way to just play without registering players individually. I do not want to have to do that.
If I could find a way around that, I would probably switch to 2.0.
Is there a way?
L | I take it that you basically want to use TD as a simple blinds timer (e.g. Poker Genie). In order for the timer to be allowed to start, TD 2.0 only requires that at least two players are bought-in before starting. So here's a (relatively) quick-and-dirty, brute-force workaround: - Configure or load your desired rounds template.
- Go to the "Players" tab and use "New Player" to make two players, "Dummy1" and "Dummy2"--you just have to put in something for the nicknames, leave everything else blank, and uncheck the "Add Player to Database" box, too. Then buy them in (use adjusted amounts to reflect the correct prize pool if you care about that). At this point you should save the tournament, so you can just reload it when you need your "dumb timer" again.
- Press F2, and you can then start the tourney as usual with the space key. The tournament clock will run, despite the initial warning about no seat assignments.
A slight refinement to this would be to add as many dummy players as you have entrants, then you can buy them in for the actual amount, and the chip-count statistics will be accurate also (as long as you remember to bust out dummies when players bust out).

I use PT 1.3 to calculate payout, display chip values, calculate total chips and average chips, play humorous sound bites at appropriate times, as well as be a blind timer.
We play with 10-15 players most of the time, and it's easier to just do a head count, count the money and go. IMO forcing individual players to buy in is poor design, plain and simple. If there's a way to do it that I just can't find, well, then, it's my bad. Overall, I would have been happier with some tweaks to 1.3 rather than a re-write to a much more complicated program.
I will just stick to 1.3 for now, I guess.
