Chips: 6,850 | | | button "sets": question/rant So I just got some new KEMs from an ebay seller that included a button set. Dealer button, kill button, missed blind button could all obviously be useful. But I have to know: what in the name of whatever are the buttons that say "big blind" and "little blind" FOR???
This is the second button set I've gotten (one with a random chip case) that has these buttons. I can't think of any possible use for them: would anyone really bother rotating THREE buttons (dealer, sb, and bb) for every deal? And would anyone be such an idiot as to actually need a button to remind them ON EVERY HAND?? Yes, I know sometimes people forget their blind (blinds, please), but seriously -- wtf??
Ok, now that I've got that rant off my chest, has anyone EVER EVER seen these in use? | | Sponsored Links | This custom ChipTalk link is built to show you only the real deal: Casino quality poker chips; Not the plastic chips that some sellers call "clay." http://www.eBay.com/casino-chips | |

Ok, now that I've got that rant off my chest, has anyone EVER EVER seen these in use? | I think the blind buttons are used when people get up from the table and miss the blind in a ring game. They are used to mark a persons place and the blind they missed so that when they rejoin they pay the appropriate blind...then again I could be wrong...

Eric | Ah, but that is what the "missed blind" button is for!!
And Quintz, isn't it a bigger pain to move all those buttons than to simply say "big blind, small blind" and point? I've played with plenty of newbies (including people who have never in their lives played poker of any sort), and it usually takes them about one minute to learn about blinds. But I'm glad SOMEONE has a use for them... |

Damn!!! Is that what hat is for? LOL.
Forget all the buttons except the dealer and just play with people that know when they should stick their money in...3 buttons would be too cumbersome... |

Chips: 5,871 | | | Re: button "sets": question/rant I play in one game where the hosts uses the Dealer, SB and BB buttons which is a bit of overkill IMHO. Its a very well run game so its not a big deal. Personally, I never use anything other than the dealer button.
I've seen the missed blind as well as the BB and SB buttons used to denote a someone's missed blind(s). |

Chips: 177 | | Re: button "sets": question/rant Dawg! I am with you on this one. Why? I don't get it. Howver, I've seen some casinos use them to show missed blinds but then why not use the missed blind button? I don't see the purpuse for them.
Even if you have new guys at your game, can't you just say, "Hey, your the SB and you are the BB." Like the dealers do in casinos I've been. |

Chips: 1,172 | | | Re: button "sets": question/rant I've never used them, but its probably for those that use the moving button rule (see http://chiptalk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12852)
When using the moving button, the DEALER, BB & SB are not always in consecutive seats...they move independently.
With the moving button rule, I'm still not sure of the use of 1 BB & 1 SB button since this rule can result in several BB or SB bets (not just 1 of each). Therfore, you might need several BB & SB buttons.
So, I guess there's another argument against using the moving button rule, all those buttons to by and keep track of!

I was totally cracjing up inside, and I went so far as to suggest we not bother with them. I was hit with a wall of resistence. I think when people are in stage two of learning poker, they look for EVERY RULE and adhere to them like they'd be thrown in prison if they didn't.
Stage 3 is when they relax enough to let someone other then the person to the left of the dealer shuffle the cards when the appropriate guy goes to grab a beer. Oh, and the ditch the BB and SB buttons. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
