wrapping suede part help
Hey I cant seem to figure out how to wrap the outside of the suede around the corners of the oval without it bunching or creasing? the picture attached is from meatboys table but mine will be the same.
obviously the inside part is easy to attach around the corners because slits are made in the material to allow 'pressure release'.. but what about the outside stretch??

Because if you don't have any, stop -- you need to do more research before you waste time/effort/material in trying to do it without a specific plan.
Seriously, especially for somebody who is as budget-conscious as you are, this is the very best advice i can give you. Building a poker table rail is a real pita, and a challenge even for those folks who have done it before and know what they are doing. Take advantage of the mistakes other builders have made, and utilize the hard work of other builders before you -- first find, fully understand, and then use a proven set of instructions for this difficult step.

Re: wrapping suede part help
now that didnt really help me now did it?
I have read many instructions on how to put the rail together. none of them address the issues of bunching and also I am building a special type table. meatboys instructions are what I am going on. but he doesnt mention anything about the bunching along the corners. just looking for some tips.
its pretty straight forward to do this, just not sure about the corners

Re: wrapping suede part help
Every set of instructions I've used all start with stapling the outside of the rail first.

Re: wrapping suede part help
Definitely pull and staple the entire outer edge first, before making any cuts in the center portion of the rail covering. If you already have, it's gonna be a real PITA, and would probably involve a lot of stapling, then staple an adjacent area, then go back and restretch and restaple another section, and so on. A lot of doing and redoing, and a crapload of patience.
If you haven't cut anything in the center yet, it's just a matter of going back and pulling out a few staples, making some adjustments, and restapling. The material might have shifted a little, or some areas are pulled a little tighter than others. Could take another 50-100 staples to get right, could be a 1/2" area or a 5" area.

Re: wrapping suede part help
If you already cut the center you won't be able to get the necessary tension.
