Suede Rail question

I will be starting my first build next week. I just wanted to check with some of the experienced guys out there who have used YAT's padded suede.

With this being my first build, the only thing I'm actually "worried" about is stretching the rail. I have studied up for many nights now browsing through plans, suggestions, and other custom tables for ideas. I have decided I absolutely love the buckskin suede, and I must have it.

Those who have used this suede, would you guys recommend a pair of these? Or are these more for the vinyl?

Re: Suede Rail question

They wouldn't hurt but for me personally I don't think you really need them.

The last rail I did was the padded suede from YAT and it was fairly easy to work with. It's still a little bit of a knuckle buster to stretch but it's easier than most vinyl and if you take your time you will have a great looking rail when you're done.

Good luck.

X 2 - my thoughts exactly. In my opinion it's about 10 times easier to manage than vinyl and getting a perfect rail is attainable if you just take your time. You will love the feel of the rail, guaranteed.

X3 I've built seven tables, the last three with suede. The padded suede is the nuts. So much easier to work with, and so much nicer feeling.

X5 Defo no need of the pliers, just use Zerolux guide to doing the rail and it will be a breeze!

Re: Suede Rail question

thanks guys! I think I'm just gonna try without them, can always run out and grab a pair if desperate I guess.

Sent my order out yesterday hoping to start the project next week, and unfortunately today got a email back from YAT saying the Buckskin is out of stock.

I'm considering changing the order to chocolate suede with the bronze ssc, but I'm hesitant to go against my gut
