One way to do it is to actually build a poker table top and just place it on top of you banquet table. You could do this reatively cheaply. One 4'X8' sheet of 3/4" MDF at Lowes is about $20, and the headliner and a decent playing surface should cost you another $50 or so. You can use a jigsaw to create the rounded corners, then glue the headliner down and staple the playng surface to the underside of the MDF. You could also use plywood but it's more $$ and if you are just placing it on the table top the weight of the MDF would help to keep it in place. I am assuming that you have tools to do this (jigsaw, electric sander, staple gun). I assume that you know (but just in case) that there is tons of advice for how-to on www.homepokertourney.com

Good luck.

remember, you're just looking for a surface that allows cards to be picked up easily. after that, everything else is just dressing. i think people tend to get a little caught up in what's the perfect foam, or what surface feels exactly like a casino...

when i made my first table (which we still use at every game), i grabbed the roll of underpad that i had just ripped up off the floor, and covered it with one of our light denim curtains. me and the boys are quite happy with the way it feels, and it couldn't have been easier.

just a suggestion to try and keep it simple...tho i will admit, i love that suited cloth

Pokercats

These guys have "poker table converters" if you don't want to make it yourself.

I also like the look of their tables.

im not looking to do anything with wood.... i just want to attach a non shedding, non pilling fabric to a piece of foam and be able to take it on and off of my table. Now im entertaining the drawstring idea....
