Round table - easier while dealing, it is hard to deal from the ends of an oval table plus you can see everyones chip stacks easier.
Wide firm but comfortable rail that you can lean on without bumping your chips if they are hard up against it.
No wooden race track - horrible to have chips on and just makes the playing area smaller. I do like the idea of two different kinds of felt to signify chips in play once they go past the outer felt.
No cup holders = no spills and its also hard to deal with a bottle or glass in front of you, keep your drinks off the table.
A single solid post under the middle of the table with long feet at the bottom to keep the table steady. Multiple legs on a table suck for anyone who has to dodge them the whole night.
No inbuilt chiptrays, dealer position, or any other stuff just felt with a fat rail. I dont like foam under the felt either. it makes your chip stacks wobbly. Just make sure the playing surface is well sanded and waterproofed before the felt is put down. If the surface under your felt is waterproof any spills can be dried up really quickly. I may have other advice but cant think of it right now. (i finally uploaded an avatar too) |

guess. Actually, it's not really taste, but a preference for functionality and such. Even with sunken cupholders, eventualy someone is going to hit their drink with their arm or hand, and at a minimum their beverage will slosh out possibly getting on the table. I keep side tables all around for drinks, and since I have gone non-smoking in my poker room the ash trays are not an issue any longer. As for a racetrack, they are certainly pretty to look at, but I just don't think they are all that functional. I think over time they would even get scratched up a bit possibly? And the hard, flat surface is not easy to shuffle your chips on! I prefer the softness of the padded felt or speed cloth. The table I just had built (finally delivered last week!!!) was made with Cappuchino Whisper vinyl & Standard speed cloth. The suited just has a hard or rough feel to me, and the plain just feels more like a casino table, and the cards just fly on it! I am very happy with the construction of my new table! But my table is nothing like the ones you posted though! (I am waiting for the last pieces of art from Teo Alfonso and I will post the pr0n for my remodeled room!)

Chips: 1,997 | | | Re: Poker Table Preferences My interpretation of "no wooden legs" was the use of 4 straight wooden legs positioned in a rectangle like a kitchen table, where at the 4 corner positions someone is constantly banging their kneecaps on them, and not the wooden pedestal type bases. I dig the ped legs, not the 4 straight legs. Quote:

Chips: 2,872 | | | Re: Poker Table Preferences Well when I built my table, I liked the concept of a racetrack, but didn't want a wood one, so I covered it. Used padding too, so that solved the flush with the table surface problem as well. My cup holders are mounted underneath the table on slide out shelves, between the seats. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
