Re: Poker Table Preferences

I bought a table from bigslik - I would definitely recommend their tables.

The table I bought had the following:

raised lighted rail
custom rye cloth
metal pedestal bases
cup holders in rail
no racetrack

One thing I would do different if I had to order again:

Table legs that are shorter - the metal pedestal bases (often referred to as casino pedestals) are way too high, especially with a raised rail - it was close to 32" in height.

If you go with the raised rail try to get a base somewhere in the 24-25" range for height.

I was on the fence about the cupholders in the rail but I really like them because:

1) Not as much clutter with drink tables all around the table
2) Defines everyone's space on the rail (cupholder to cupholder)

Re: Poker Table Preferences

Racetrack = NO
Betting line printed on cloth = YES

Speed Cloth = NO
Custom printed graphic on casino grade cloth= YES

Built-in drink holders = NO
"Under the rail" drink holders (don't have room for carts, or they would get my vote) = YES

Dealer position/Tray = NO
Drop Box = YES

Removable padded rail = YES (makes it SO much easier to clean the table!)

Wooden "dinner table" legs = NO
Real "foot rest rail" around the bottom = YES (or at least "bar table" legs that only have one post per support, not 4 legs to get in the way.)

I agree with the possible exception of the speedcloth. I guess it depends on what you mean, but the suited cloth from YAT if very nice. Custom cloth with a printed betting line would be even better, but the SSC is good-looking, durable and spill resistant, and the cards slide very well.

Re: Poker Table Preferences

Please, please, please don't get a raised rail/bumper. It's super hard for me to look at my cards, handle by chips, b/c they're too high. (Although I can rest my bewbs on them).

Racetrack - can be good if done properly (flush with felt) cause I can stack my chips higher, but often it's not quite right.

Those clunky wooden legs are fugly... The other pedastals are much nicer. Bonus points if you can get a foot rail like this . Don't get the folding legs though, the people on the corners will be banging their knees all night.

Cupholders - if you can spring for drinkcarts, do that instead.

Re: Poker Table Preferences

Here is a picture of a small (6) person table I had made. Suited speedcloth for a racetrack and unsuited for the playing surface. We use tv trays with cup holders cut in.

Wow!! I love the two tone playing surface. I'm guessing the color break marks your betting line....

So, how/where did you get the felt made??? That combo with a custom logo would be HOT (and way up on my list).

I also like the smaller table. It's fairly rare that I get a big group what would need more than about six.

More details please. This one is a winner in my book!

Classy look on your table.

I think I'm getting a clearer picture on the direction I want to go. My dilema now resides in the legs. Since the table will also serve as a dining room table (which will get used maybe 4 or 5 times during the year) until we move, I need to convice the wife on a pedastal type base. Hopefully I can do this.

The feedback on this subject has been fantastic. I would like to see more photos of higher end custom tables.

Re: Poker Table Preferences

The table was made by a local builder in Thornton Colorado. Home

He did a great job. The speedcloth is from YAT.
