Re: best table available?

The stien tables are beautiful, but they have slots (trays?) for chips. All true Chiptalk'ers know that chips are meant to be stacked, not layed on their sides. At scottkeen.com there are lots of posts by professional buiders who build tables that look every bit as nice as the Stein tables, for a fraction of the price. If I were buying a "sky's the limit" table, I would start there.

For me, in my house, there's not a better table anywhere than my table with a copper dining top (http://chiptalk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9235), and it cost about $4K less than a Stein table. Of course, I designed it, and built parts of it, so I love it.

Anyway, bottom line, there's more options and lots more bang-for-the-buck with the builders at scott's site or building your own. That's not quite the answer to the "if money's no object question," but (really) money is always a factor.

L

Edit: if you look at PeteRod's table, you will see what I mean.

Stine Game Tables

They're pretty good people, been speaking in email. Fantastic tables for sure.

Re: best table available?

This is the same table as here
http://www.nevadajacks.net/mall/casino_tables.htm

You can get it with or without the chip tray

I paid a little extra for the felt and rail upgrade

The close up pictures show the true colors of the felt and rails.

I am 100% thrilled with the table.
Top is doubled 3/4" ply with 1/2" padding.
Felt is top of the line known as "Beligao Blue" is awesome
Rails are Nytec (Premium Vinyl) Hard to tell from leather but cleanable

I didnt pay all that money for my paulsons to see them sit in organized horizonal rows... Good stuff about Scott Keen's forum...i am definitely going to check it out. Are all these dudes completely trustworthy?

I don't know about the guys on scott keen, but I would assume they can supply references - Caveat emptor. My guess is that anybody who is a major poster there is an honest businessman, though. Personally, I have had very good luck with online transactions through boards like chiptalk, scottkeen, as well as several unrelated (rc aircraft) boards.

PS Stine will make flat racetracs for about $400 extra as I recall.

Hey did someone say "PeteRod's table"
Oak rail feels like a baby's ass. Not that I am all over a baby's ass.

Is the padding for the rails 1" or 1/2"?

I am not sure I will try to find that out.
My guess is it is 1" and the rail material is pulled really tight and compresses
it down quite a bit.

They also do not run the padding down the front of the rail where it meets the felt.
Just vinly over wood (maybe a thin material in between) Keeps the front
of the rail "clean" looking and no ripples. This is the first place they occur on most
tables that completely wrap the rails.
