Playing on the bubble

Just looking for comments on this one. What is your opinion on playing when its 5-10 to the money, and you are middle stack? Tighten up and hang on, play normal, try and pick up blinds from players scared of finishing on the bubble?

I've also discovered that getting busted on a 16k all-in with KK by JTo on the river in 43rd place (40th pays) is the worst feeling ever.

I can sympathize. Earlier this week I entered a satellite tourney where the top 9 players advance to the weekly big tourney. There were 341 players entered and I busted out in 10th!!!! Nothing worse than missing the cut by 1 place.

One the bubble, it depends a lot on stack size.
I try to:
1. play my regular game
2. but take an extra 5 seconds to think about what I'm doing
3. and if someone at the table is playing stupid or aggressively, maybe check/fold a teeny bit more to let him make a mistake

Bubble = shift into 4th gear. Take advantage of the others playing too tightly.

Woe are we, the bubble-finishers.

I usually try and take advantage myself, but if I notice another player is doing the same thing, I pick and choose my spots a little more carefully.

Tighten up and limit yourself to the top 10 hands. Your goal is to make the money, don't do anything stupid!

Well I would have to say my goal is to win. If I bust out and dont make the $$ aslong as I played the best poker I could that day then I am happy.

I remember a game I got busted with a KK all in, the player had J4o and hit 2 more 4's on the board. I played the hand right and it didn't work out what are you gonna do.

I would say play like normal just play your prem hands more aggressive.

If I was big stack, I would play more aggressive. If short stack, tighten up and try to finish in the money.

I do both. If you're playing like SpeakEasy suggests, I think you also have to know when to play like Yeltzen suggests.
