first time at casino

not that long ago i was at casino for the first time . i played in three noteable hands
hear they are
note i moved tables after hand #2 and again before #3 due to closing tables
i bought in for 100 $ and played for 8 1/2 hrs on that buy in started at 11 pm friday . all hands are 9 or 10 players
hand one
played about twenty mins after i sat down . hero in mp
folded to hero who is in mp with AJoff i raise to 7 witch seems to be normal at the table button , SB and BB villain call
flop is J 5 4 rainbow pot 28 $
villain has 150 back hero has 98
checked to me

hand two
hero is one spot closer to button in this hand from hand one and been sitting for hour and half. all the same players
folded to hero with A K off raises to 7 $
SB and BB villain call
flop is K 5 2 rainbow pot 21
villain has 270 back hero has 100
checked to me

hand three
important note i saw the player to my left on hand one is now on my right and is villain . i saw him get it all in for 130 $ on the turn with with a flush and a straight draw lost witch was the third time i'd seen him chase a draw and fail. this is the very first hand after i sat down this table witch is deeep stacked one player has three barrels of 25's and 5 stakes of 40x5's most have at least 500 to 1000 back . it is about seven am now

hero is BB and has and has 255 back
two mp players limp SB villain makes it 5 the three of us call
villain has 230 ish back
flop pot 20
villain bets 15 $

what should i have done from here

Re: first time at casino

Hand one bet 20

Hand two bet 15

Hand three raise 25 on top is probably the industry standard correct play but I prefer to flat and see what happens, hoping all draws come in after/on a paired turn card I have no problem laying down a big hand later after losing next to nothing when a 2 hits the board

Dude, you have 50BBs and top-top or better. Apparently, you're unlucky because there isn't much strategy involved besides betting.

Hand three I'm playing as fast as possible... raise to $75 or at least 60.

Re: first time at casino

First two hands Hero has limited chips and top pair/top kicker hands. In each case my plan would be a pot-sized bet on the flop and push all-in on the turn. Hero will not get enough information to discover his top pair isn't good before he is pot committed. In other words, I think hero is already pot committed.

Hand three is played deeper, the board is very wet and Hero has a powerful hand. A raise to $5, by the small blind no less, doesn't define anyone's hand. If they are willing to play garbage hands for $2, they will play it for a $3 raise.

Hero likely has the best hand, but if not, his draw is excellent. Let's test the waters and raise. A pot sized raise would be $50 on-top or $65 all-day. Let's try that. Note that Hero is, again, going to be pot committed here. Hero is almost getting proper odds to call a push even if villain tables a straight. As in the other hands, Hero should push all-in on most turns.

Hope you are feeling lucky, things could end up great or rather awful -=- DrStrange

Re: first time at casino

In case of tl/dr ----> Hero should shove all three hands.

The first thing that strikes me is Hero's bet sizing. Hand one, $12 into a $28 pot (43% pot), hand two, $15 into $21 (71% pot), hand three $15 into a $50 pot (30% pot). Hand two was in the 'normal' range but the other two are smaller than normal.

This is a leak because the tiny bets give villains good odds to call & draw and because many times villains will call bigger bets without the best hand. What often ends up happening is Hero bets and bets small and gets called and then one bad hand the draw hits - - -Boom!, the villain wakes up and hammers out a big bet which Hero ends up calling and losing.

Hero needs to be betting bigger in these situations. Getting the money in while Hero's hand is best(we hope) is a good thing. I find most bets should be between 60% and 100% of the size of the pot. Hero should have a good reason if/when he deviates from that.

Hand one - hero still has top pair / top kicker with a $52 pot and $86 in chips. Villain bets $15. Once Hero catches up, the pot would be $82 and Hero has $71 left. Hero should push all in. Many times micro donk bets are blocking bets hoping to get a cheap river card. If villain has a set or the straight, Hero is drawing dead, but that's a chance we should take.

Hand two - Hero improves to top two pair. Just like in hand one, Hero will be pushing a less than pot sized bet when he goes all-in.

Hand three - Hero has the 2nd nut, the best possible full house. Villain has taken aggressive action at every step. I would not slow play here because a lot of villain's range is over pairs - hands that might be scared of a lot of river cards. Hero has a pot sized bet left after catching up. I think betting all-in is best.
