On the bubble

If you were close to the bubble for making money in a tournament would you coast through just to make sure you made money or would you keep playing your game even if it meant you might bust out just out of the money.

I tend to make certain I make the money and not put my chips at risk but is this a hole in my game or a sound strategy when getting close to the money bubble.

I actually like to play a bit more aggressively at this time. I've notice that when players lock down and hold tight hopeing for someone else to get knocked out you can do some serious damage to other players. Stealing blinds is a breeze and pulling bluffs is alot easier.

For me it depends on how many chips i have relative to the other players, how many people till i get in the money and how much prize money is involved. If im playing a friendly game where 3 spots are paid out and the 1st prize is $50 then I wont be to concerned about busting out. If the top prize is $2000 i will consider how the table is playing and like the previous post, losten up and bluff more or just play my usual game. If I have lots of chips I tighten up and only play big hands especially because at that point the blinds are usually substantial.

the two choices aren't enough. sorry, dog. i might play a little tighter, but i certainly don't make the money "no matter what." that'd be kinda weak tight. and, it's no secret, this is the time to steal some blinds strategically.

I'd say hole in your game. The goal isn't to win your buy in back or make a little, your goal is to make the top 3. Bubble time is when lots of people play tight and scared. Loosen up and get aggressive. It's a perfect time to build your stack so you have a chance of making it much farther.

About clicking the "post & fold" button?
That's not a joke. When I'm on the bubble with a smallish stack I click it and go downstairs to avoid doing something stupid.
