flush easier to get than a straight in shared card games?

A woman in my home game says that with games with a shared board such as holdem, a straight is harder to get than a flush. DO you know this to be true?

Only if you are drawing post flop with four cards to a straight or flush...

I've certainly never heard of it. Did she give any reasoning? On the reverse, I don't see how community card games or stud games would make a difference seeing as how if you have 4 to a straight in holdem or 7CS, it's still the same number of outs to complete the hand.

Thirded. You have 9 outs to a flush but only 8 to an open-ender, right?

Correct. It's easier to COMPLETE a flush draw than a straight draw, but it's more difficult to get to the point where you're drawing to complete. The maths are the maths.

Re: flush easier to get than a straight in shared card games?

depends on what cards you hold preflop. if she's playing any two suited then yeah, she's going to get more flushes than straights.
