WWYD: Overpair in a sticky situation

I haven't played online cash games this year at all, but I've been meaning to get back on the horse. So last night I decided to warm up with some 6max NL10. This one hand made me think:

***** Hand History for Game 26425597398 *****
$10.00 USD NL Texas Hold'em - Friday, March 27, 03:08:28 ET 2009
Table Pumma V (Real Money)
Seat 2 is the button
Seat 1: Boterkooper ( $12.95 USD )
Seat 2: Zomaril ( $4.90 USD )
Seat 3: hero ( $8.55 USD )
Seat 4: villain ( $11.10 USD )
Seat 5: blackevil666 ( $14.80 USD )
Seat 6: Thois ( $10.00 USD )
hero posts small blind [$0.05 USD].
villain posts big blind [$0.10 USD].
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to hero [ Qc Qd ]
blackevil666 folds
Thois folds
Boterkooper folds
Zomaril folds
hero raises [$0.35 USD]
villain calls [$0.30 USD]
** Dealing Flop ** [ 6h, Jh, Tc ]
hero bets [$0.65 USD]
villain raises [$1.80 USD]
hero seems puzzled...

Now the problem is, I don't have much of a read on this guy yet. He's been at the table about two orbits, and the only hand I noticed was where I raised pre, he 3bet IP, I made a bad call and then gave up to his c-bet on the flop. He seems tight and very aggressive, possibly with a wide 3betting range. I'm not committed on the flop, but I don't really want to let this guy keep running me over either... WWYD? Also, if this was NL100 with same relative stacks, would that change how you'd play it?

Re: WWYD: Overpair in a sticky situation

You are not yet committed no, but you need to be making a "committment plan" at this point. If you 4-bet villain here you WILL be committed, even if you call, you have put in about 1/4 of your stack so are nearing a committment threshold, and really have no idea where you are in the hand and OOP.

I think it is a raise or fold situation here. On this board, and against an aggressive villain, he has a very wide raising range, he could be driving an OESD or a Flush draw, or even just trying to protect his Top pair. With such a wide range I Shove it all in here.

He may have K's or A's or a flush draw. Betting into the K's or A's is suicide and not raising against a flush draw or top pair doesn't make you money either. Cash game......shove!

Why wouldn't he? He's already heads-up so no need to raise (if he's sneaky). Buy I agree with you, that's why I also say shove against top pair/flush draw and hope he didn't set the K-or-A trap.

I usually shove the times he has 66 or JT, and fold the times he has AJ. A9hh, or KQ.
