AA when to hold or when to fold

Two hands that I played yesterday. I can't say I played either of them well but ....

Hand number one:

PokerStars Game #17171717171717: Hold'em No Limit ($0.25/$0.50) - 2009/01/20 17:00:25 ET
Table 'Sualocin VIII' 9-max Seat #7 is the button
Seat 1: lbnanbdo ($36.60 in chips)
Seat 2: wasserss ($8.50 in chips)
Seat 3: Irish Se7en ($47.45 in chips)
Seat 4: jclib ($70.60 in chips)
Seat 5: chavarie ($75 in chips)
Seat 6: hhowudoin ($11.35 in chips)
Seat 7: raistlinx ($47.70 in chips)
Seat 8: Amphitryons ($48.05 in chips)
Seat 9: Miisha ($53.65 in chips)
Amphitryons: posts small blind $0.25
Miisha: posts big blind $0.50
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Irish Se7en [Ah Ad]
lbnanbdo: folds
wasserss: folds
Irish Se7en: raises $1.50 to $2
jclib: folds
chavarie: folds
hhowudoin: folds
raistlinx: folds
Amphitryons: folds
Miisha: calls $1.50
*** FLOP *** [8h Ks 9d]
Miisha: checks
Irish Se7en: bets $3
Miisha: raises $4 to $7

I make the standard raise preflop, one caller (bb).

Flop, he checks, I bet her reraises. I've watched Miisha get pushed of two hands and I didn't think he had a set but...

Hand number two:

PokerStars Game #77777777777: Hold'em No Limit ($0.25/$0.50) - 2009/01/20 17:08:45 ET
Table 'Pallas V' 9-max Seat #7 is the button
Seat 1: turtLe82 ($54.55 in chips)
Seat 2: spoonitnow ($50.30 in chips)
Seat 3: generall23 ($31.65 in chips)
Seat 5: emirkay ($84.25 in chips)
Seat 6: appman60 ($31.65 in chips)
Seat 7: euphoricism ($78.40 in chips)
Seat 8: Irish Se7en ($47 in chips)
Seat 9: johan75a ($66.50 in chips)
Irish Se7en: posts small blind $0.25
johan75a: posts big blind $0.50
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Irish Se7en [Qd Kd]
turtLe82: folds
turtLe82 leaves the table
spoonitnow: folds
generall23: folds
diever#1 joins the table at seat #1
emirkay: folds
appman60 is connected
appman60: calls $0.50
euphoricism: folds
Irish Se7en: calls $0.25
johan75a: raises $2 to $2.50
appman60: calls $2
Irish Se7en: calls $2
*** FLOP *** [5s 3d 6d]

I thought about raising preflop but if and I type if one of these two players has a hand, do I want to call a reraise to $5 or $6 with KQs?

Flop, it may be as good as it gets. Check or bet? Or wait and see what johan75a is going to do, in case he actually has a hand.

Re: AA when to hold or when to fold

any stats of your opponents?

hand one is definately a 3bet to $20.
I'd give Tp here or 9-JJ and he's testing the waters.

2nd hand.
in my opinion tough decision preflop.
I'd reraise from the SB IF the limper wouldn't flat called the raise. Again, you need to know the players stats or tendencies.

on the flop I'd go for 2/3 pot bet. Great spot to lead out with a semi bluff.
The BB would fold AK - AT and reraise 77-TT. And even if he had one of those pocket pairs, you're still the favorit.
No clue about the limper though.
The only hand you're really trailing here is 55, 33 or 66. (or 65 but unlikely)

Re: AA when to hold or when to fold

no stats on either player, basically new to both rooms. Only thing I have is what I observed in the first room. that he was bet off two hands with a reraise. Though that isn't much to go on.

Re: AA when to hold or when to fold

I have an urge to say play hand 1 quite passively. I think the line taken by villain could suggest he is making a play with TT-QQ, AK maybe JT

A lot of villains love to slow play a set against the pre-flop aggressor on the flop in-case your bet was just of the continuation variety, so not to scare you off. Without any stats not sure whether he'd CR with a OESD

I like to just call on this flop, hope he was making a play, give him a chance to bluff turn and get it all-in there (assuming a scary card doesnt come off).

Hand 2, I CR the flop for 2 reasons:

1- I dont mind winning the pot here.
2-If villain does call my CR, I have some decent outs.

Re: AA when to hold or when to fold

Thanks, Steven. I guess I can go back to work.

Lots of 50NLers will check-click-raise as a bluff. You have position so just call and see the turn.

Personally, I would've been the one raising to $2.50 pre-flop in hand two.
