WWYD with a twist

What did villain have and what would you do? I have little or no read on Villain, as he has recently joined the table.

Saw Flop | Saw Turn | Saw River | Saw Showdown | Won

PokerStars Game #17810565696: Hold'em No Limit ($0.10/$0.25) - 2008/05/31 - 01:38:54 (ET)
Table 'Bandusia' 9-max Seat #5 is the button

UTG+1 - $27.90
Villain - $17.90
Button - $3.80
Hero - $10.55
BB - $23.90
UTG - $22.90

PREFLOP ($0.10/$0.25)
Hero is SB with Q Q
2 folds, Villain raises $0.50 to $0.75, 1 fold, Hero raises $0.50 to $1.25, 1 fold, Villain raises $0.50 to $1.75, Hero calls $0.50.

FLOP $3.75 (2 players)
4 2 8
Hero bets $3, Villain raises $13.15 to $16.15
Hero ?

I have 5.80 behind.
What would you do at this point?

I know it's tough with no read, but try to think how you might play this.

More to come.... stay tuned.

Re: WWYD with a twist

call. also, quit with the small raises preflop to simplify things on the flop.

what does he have? he has one pair you beat, one pair that beats you, AK, a set or two pair. hell if i know. it doesn't matter...you put in 4.75 out of your $10, and so you're calling.

the way i'd have played it (assuming it's 4bet again)...

hero raises to $1, villain reraises to 1.75. hero raises to 6, villain raises to XX, hero calls/shoves.

Re: WWYD with a twist

Well, at these stakes I'm finding it more and more common that people push with an "underpair"(see here)... so I'd guess he has 33, although 55, 66, and 77 are also possibilities.

Oh, and I definitely call. If he flopped the set or two-pair, then c'est la vie. If he has TPTK or a pair smaller than QQ or is drawing to a straight, then you've got him right where you want him.

Re: WWYD with a twist

Raise more preflop please.

With the min 3bet, I'm actually putting him on quite a big hand. AQ+/TT+

Re: WWYD with a twist

So here it is. I am still working on raising more preflop. With micro stakes, I tend to think that people play with any two cards. It's a donk fest, but I've been having a lot more positive results when I do raise more preflop w/ strong holdings. TBH, it was a gut read on this hand, that he didn't have the cards. I guess he didn't think I was holding anything either. I had been on the table awhile, and left on the next hand after this.

Saw Flop | Saw Turn | Saw River | Saw Showdown | Won

PokerStars Game #17810565696: Hold'em No Limit ($0.10/$0.25) - 2008/05/31 - 01:38:54 (ET)
Table 'Bandusia' 9-max Seat #5 is the button

UTG+1 - $27.90
Villain - $17.90
Button - $3.80
Hero - $10.55
BB - $23.90
UTG - $22.90

PREFLOP ($0.10/$0.25)
Hero is SB with Q Q
2 folds, Villain raises $0.50 to $0.75, 1 fold, Hero raises $0.50 to $1.25, 1 fold, Villain raises $0.50 to $1.75, Hero calls $0.50.

FLOP $3.75 (2 players)
4 2 8
Hero bets $3, Villain raises $13.15 to $16.15, Hero calls $5.80.

TURN $28.70 (2 players)
4 2 8 2

RIVER $28.70 (2 players)
4 2 8 2 3

SHOW DOWN
Hero shows Q Q
Villain mucked K 7
Hero collected $20.30 from pot

Final Pot: $21.35

excellent reason to raise more. You should be 3bet/5betting this all day.
Also, what's with the flop donk?

This hand is a pretty straightforward get it in spot.

Re: WWYD with a twist

I believe by "flop donk" Poboy means, betting into Villain, seeing as you flat called villains 4-bet pre-flop, he is the pre-flop aggressor, and betting into the pre-flop aggressor following a flop is known as "Donk Betting"
