Chips: 761 | | | Cash Avg Pot Hi/Low Probably a dumb question but I'm curious what people choose when playing a cash game online. If you have limited information on the players, how do you choose a table?
I normally play 6 handed and when choosing a table and I normally pick a table where the avg pot is low. Then it's more or less ABC style poker and I go from there. No wild swings.
Lately I've been playing tables where there's more action. Hoping that there are poor players willing to give me their money chasing straights/flushes. Playing similar poker but getting more for my better hands. However there have been a few bad beats and some bad play on my part.
So when picking a table do you even consider what the avg pot is when deciding on a table?
Example:

I usually choose the tables with the highest percentage of people seeing the flop, and within that group the highest average pot. Fairly simple, but works for me. I'd be interested in what the consensus is.

also, look for open seats to the left of big stacks and known fishies. |

Then I check pot size relative to the see flop number. The bigger the pot w/lower flop number, the less I want to play there. Then I check stack sizes.
It's harder to do at UB because they lie like dogs about see flop %.

Why wouldn't you want a loose game? Also, low average pots and high hands
per hour usually mean the table is new. |

L | Yup.
I don't play too many hands, so when I hit, I want some gamboolers who will pay me off. I usually open 3 or 4 tables at once, and after an orbit or two I'll move from a bad table if I think it's bad though.
I think there is sort of a "group think" that happens at limit tables, so often the whole table will end up playing loose/tight or aggressive/passive; if you have one fish and a bunch of rocks at a limit table, I think this is WORSE than a bunch of mediocre players. I prefer the exact opposite on a NL table.
