Chips: 28 | | | any noticeable tells does anyon eknow of their tells, I have figured out two of mine, I found that I look at chips after a good flop, turn or river, and that I breathe faster with a good hand, I am learning how to control that but I decided I would try to make myself look weaker when I have a really good hand, not slow play though |

I used to be a big scuba diver (thus my name Sea Vulture), so that is a little easier for me. I have a tougher time not swallowing when awaiting a delayed all in call. Having a ready beer helps me get past that one. |

For those of you who have spotted one specific tell, keep in mind that it happens both when I have a made hand and when I'm on a major bluff. Therefore your best option is to fold.

I'm a hummer - at work, riding my bike, whatever; I tend to hum or sometimes sing little tunes. Sometimes existing songs, sometimes made up ones. Anyway, I've often found my self humming this song when I'm holding a certain card... especially if I've paired it. Ridiculous, I know.
Although it would surprise me if I have others I don't know about...

Not trying to sound like a JA, but you ask a live question, then, ONCE AGAIN, start trying to brag on yourself about how good you think you are on this facebook play money poker crap.
Do you want to learn the game, or live in a fantasy world and keep patting yourself on the back??? If you want to learn the game, that's one thing, but I don't see it.
Here's some advice;
1) You're 16. You're not going to impress anyone here by saying how good you are on play money sites. Ain't going to happen, we really don't care.
2) You're 16. Go get laid. Trying to get laid will improve your poker skills. Trying to read a woman is great poker experience, and being ALL IN is a hell of a lot more fun.
3) If you're serious about the game, READ, READ, READ. There are plenty of great books out there. Read as much as you can and learn.
4) Play money poker doesn't teach you squat about the game. No risk, no loss, no pain.
5) You're 16. Read rule 2 and wear protection.
6) If you follow rule 2, make sure it isn't with your teacher, or priest.
I hope that helps. Enjoy. |

.... | Dude, lighten up. He's eager to learn about poker, and his options right now are (1) play money and (2) websites. I don't feel like any of his posts are trying to impress, I think he's just looking to learn about the game. And I don't buy your "play money doesn't count" argument. Are you telling me if you play a game of basketball, and you haven't wagered, losing doesn't matter? I call B.S. If you want to win... that matters more than any $$ amount. For me, anyways. Although suggestions 2,3 and 5 are pretty good.... although not mutually exclusive with posting.
SeaVulture is right in his implication (I don't think he said it, but I feel it's implied) that your tells like breathing hard will get less the more you play.

SeaVulture is right in his implication (I don't think he said it, but I feel it's implied) that your tells like breathing hard will get less the more you play. | In Vulture's defense, your analogy doesn't work out. I wouldn't play a basketball game against random people if any of them could reset the score whenever they felt like it (money is the score in poker). I'd play those rules against people whom I knew were serious about poker, but not against xXXPokerPro!!!1!!11xXx.
In basketball you play for points, in poker you play for money (play or not), and being able to reset the score does change the way that quite a few people play.
Vulture was a bit over the top, but at age 16 I could call just about any card game that I felt like and have a full table of people with no problem. I've played with facebook poker, and it can be a bit of a joke. I generally find better play-money games at full tilt. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
