Chips: 761 | | | WWYD: Call or Push? After a little layoff I'm back at it again. I've been playing some bland vanilla poker, otherwise known as being a nit.
I'm looking to play some hands while I listen to the new REM (Accelerate) and drinking P. Hellmuth's favorite drink.
So here's the hand.
PokerStars Game #1629410: Hold'em No Limit ($0.10/$0.25) - 2008/03/27 - 17:20:08 (ET)

Seat 2: Irish Se7en ($14.65 in chips)
Seat 3: shabrell ($3.80 in chips)
Seat 4: FlattopMike ($14.50 in chips)
Seat 5: micha27 ($21.45 in chips)

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Irish Se7en [Kc Qh]
Dave_linsak leaves the table
hdm7: folds
Irish Se7en: raises $0.75 to $1
shabrell: folds
FlattopMike: calls $0.90
micha27: folds
*** FLOP *** [Ts Qc Kh]
FlattopMike: checks
Irish Se7en: bets $2
FlattopMike: raises $2 to $4
Irish Se7en:
I just bought in and I have NO information on FlattoMike.
I flopped 2 pair but I know I'm beat by the Following Hands: AJ, KK, QQ & TT. Out of those hands, I figured he would have reraised preflop with KK & QQ. He might have smoothed called with Tens & AJ. Would you call, push or fold?

Chips: 2,456 | | | Re: WWYD: Call or Push? Step one is to not fold. If you buyin for less than the full, you're not looking to fold with Top2. He easily has AK, AT, KJ, KT, QJ, QT, JJ too. You can push now or push the turn. Thing is, everything you're ahead of that raises this flop is probably going to call the push or wouldn't have raised. Unless it's a bluff. So push. If you both had 100bbs, raise enough to commit.

edit -
OKJ, now I have seen the OP. Fold was not in the title so I did not think that it was an option. I still stand by my answer. Call puts 1/3 of your stack in on a good, but scary board. You do not want to give yourself excuses to fold on a scare card (or even the AI bet on a brick).
If you are beat, so be it. Rebuy and play solid poker. |

You are putting in a third of your stack after you call, so you are committing yourself here, putting in a third of your stack and then folding would be a mistake, considering you are ahead of a lot of his potential range.
I'd say push and pray he hasn't got AJ,KK,QQ,TT.
Just out of interest, and sorry in advance for the slight threadjack, I always play with a full stack, but what is the advantage for using a shortstack, except for being a weaker player for the table, and therefore limiting the cost of your mistakes? |

Chips: 123 | | | Re: WWYD: Call or Push? I would say AJ isnt likely- however J9 sure is though. In these spots I would just shove. I would guess you are ahead 70% of the time. If you are wrong reload and move on to the next hand. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
