Limit Hold'Em CT HORSE Tourney Hand

This sparred a little debate at the table. My main questions: is opening with a raise ok? Is capping ok, based on the fact the opposition has a short stack, or should I avoid capping to re-evaluate after the flop?

Re: Limit Hold'Em CT HORSE Tourney Hand

based on stack sizes and the fact that he has less than 2BB after his 3-bet I think your cap and b/c on the flop is totally standard.

Especially because its FSU and he isn't going to get blinded off so you know he can have a lot of over card combos that you are ahead of.

Re: Limit Hold'Em CT HORSE Tourney Hand

Yeah - now that I see it on paper it really isn't that close. FSU just doesn't have the chips to make you go away once he 2-bets - so no problem with capping. Was hard to visualize during the game because I looked away for a few after you raised UTG (I clicked fold) and saw you capped and he called and then things went quick.

If he had more behind - then I think a cap is wrong - the question is, how much does he need behind where yoou need to think about this.....

Re: Limit Hold'Em CT HORSE Tourney Hand

both tmj and philly have it right on - stack sizes rule this hand and nothing out of the ordinary

fsu was shortstacked - you had chips to spare

Open raising in a horse tournament is NEVER wrong - in fact, open limping gets you in real trouble most of the time. After your open raise - the rest was academic.

I caught a bit of the chat during the game (I was at the other table) but didn't get the chance to look up the hand; I was wondering what all the buzz was about. If nothing else, you've satisfied my curiosity.

No reason to be sorry - ask away...especially since there was so much discussion at the table. Mucho table discussion= uncertainty. Many hands look different when charted on paper (or the screen).
