Re: Here's a WWYD hand for you...

If you are OOM, fold.

If you are ITM, then I guess it depends on how far ITM you are, but with that much re-raising, I still probably fold. Someone has something better than QQ, and that puts you on the dog end of a coinflip.

I probably wouldn't be too happy but at best you're in a race and he has you out chipped. I would reluctantly let it go.

I really hate the way you called twice already, but I'm not folding here.

Re: Here's a WWYD hand for you...

What buyin is this? 55? 109?
how many players left?
how many get paid?

my guess is lebomb's range is AJs+, 77-JJ
QQ+ would generally reraise preflop
I could also see him shoving air here with all the dead money in the pot to squeeze you out.

BodogAri is a big name in online tourney play and a very good player. I know he is known to call light at times, not sure on his shoving range in this spot, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a hand like JTs from him. I'd give him a decent size range like 99+, AJs+, JTs, QJs, KQs.

You are most likely at worst a coin flip with a lot of dead money in the pot, I would generally call unless you are deep in the tourney and there is a big pay jump.

Re: Here's a WWYD hand for you...

I'm a little confused by the action honestly... but here's my logic.

jrainbow has a raising hand, and you just elect to call. LeBomb calls in position with what will most likely be a 3-handed pot. BodogAri pushes, but with 2100 in the pot already, he knows he's getting called. jrainbow calls, you call, and Lebomb pushes in what is obviously an isolation raise into a huge pot. The question is, does he really have a strong hand, or does he just see the pot as huge and now wants to flip with Bodog? My initial gut reaction was to fold (you have to be beat!), but I would expect that LeBomb would have re-raised initially if he had aces or kings. If he has a pp QQ or below, or any Ace, a call is in order -- which I think is actually correct. You're most likely flipping, with at least one dead Ace, but I think the payoff here is huge. What are the payouts? That may actually affect the action, but assuming you're far from the bubble, call I think.

Scott is on the money with this post. I agree about BodogAri. Initially, I think I let this go, however, because I don't want to put my tourney on the line with AK and all of this action. I think LeBomb would have 3 bet with AA or KK to isolate, unless he decides to call initially and then decides to push when he sees more action than he wanted. Then I might think he has a big pair TT - QQ and wants to get out all of the SPs and high SCs and hopefully be 4 to 1 fav with top pair a majority of the time and race against AK a minority of the time.

Generally, if I have reads I have no problem letting go AK. I am starting to think that if I have no reads, AK may be a hand to let go also in spots like this until I get some reads. Honestly, I need more experience (and guts, I guess) to make calls in these spots. That's why Annette and Lilholdem are where they are in this game.

Re: Here's a WWYD hand for you...

This is why I love CT. Yu guys a good.

My first mistake (which I think we can all agree on) is calling twice. First, OOP calling was a huge mistake, and then calling the All-in. I knew that was a mistake as soon as I clicked. I should have figured that someone was going to make a move on me. Here's how it played out.

And yes Scott, this was a $55 - at this point about half the field of 1500 is left.

mattythatguy: calls 6980 and is all-in
*** FLOP *** [Ah 4c Qc]
*** TURN *** [Ah 4c Qc] [Jh]
*** RIVER *** [Ah 4c Qc Jh] [Ad]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
mattythatguy: shows [Kc Ac] (three of a kind, Aces)
LeBomb10: shows [8c 8s] (two pair, Aces and Eights)
mattythatguy collected 13960 from side pot
BodogAri: shows [Td Tc] (two pair, Aces and Tens)
mattythatguy collected 6680 from main pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 20640 Main pot 6680. Side pot 13960. | Rake 0
Board [Ah 4c Qc Jh Ad]
Seat 1: rupibear folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 2: Zippus folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 3: LeBomb10 showed [8c 8s] and lost with two pair, Aces and Eights
Seat 4: ForzaGrunn (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 5: Fatcat77333 (small blind) folded before Flop
Seat 6: BodogAri (big blind) showed [Td Tc] and lost with two pair, Aces and Tens
Seat 7: CASINOICE folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 8: jrainbow folded before Flop
Seat 9: mattythatguy showed [Kc Ac] and won (20640) with three of a kind, Aces

My reasoning was that the push from Ari was definitely a pair, probably of medium strength. The push from lebomb felt like isolation, so I figured I had some outs...

Re: Here's a WWYD hand for you...

I agree with scott's analysis, and also nice call.

I think the mistake was not repopping initially. If you had done that BodogAri would have shoved, and the 88s would have folded so you would have had an easy decision. As played his shove really looks like isolation with a med pair or AK or AQs. I think it is a good call assuming you aren't getting ready to make a very significant payout jump.
