What side bets do you run at your home game?

We kinda mix it up a bit, like tonight we will throw in an extra 10 bucks (sidepot)for the best hand of the night. Last week we did the worst beat.

Any of you do this?

No, but it's a great idea.

For clarity, you should rename the thread with the word, side BET. We have some prop betting going on, but no specific side bets that everyone takes part in.

Re: What side pots do you run at your home game?

Yeah, we have prop bets, but no side bets that everyone plays. There are separate side bets that people make all the time though. My buddy and I coin flip the flop all the time, black or red, for $1 per hand, but nothing that everyone will do.

Our prop bets are 2 cards, plus a jack, plus the hammer. Pick 2 cards. If the board pairs those cars, win a quarter.(.25/.50 game, adjust accordingly) If the board pairs both your cards it's 2x. If all 4 of one card hit it's 4x. Jack pays 1x. If your pair and your jack hits, its 2x. If you hit both pairs and your jack, it's 20x. We don't have a rule for 4 of a kind plus your jack, which now that I think of it, I'll have to come up with one. There are 4 of us that play these every week. With the hammer, just about everyone is in on that. Play 7,2 and win it at showdown, and win $2 from each player.

Yeah we do prop bets (although I don't participate in them...might as well play keno). Theres bets for what is paired on a flop, if the flop comes all suited and what hits on the river. You pay\get $1 per person, per bet hit, so some people have had hot nights with this. We have one guy (Arrowwood) who always picks 9's for the paired flop and he seems to always hit.

Tourney games there us sypically a HHJP. It's become a staple in the tourney games.

Cash games, there are swarms of prop bets between a few of the junkies. Typically 3 or 4 props going all night, and then the "$5 buck for the color of the next car that drives by" which happens a handfull of times through the night.

Re: What side bets do you run at your home game?

We usually do a high hand jackpot where everyone puts in five bucks except for the host. Since whoever the host is that week is allowing us to use their house they don't have to pay the five bucks.

We do pocket pairs. If you get a pocket pair then each player pays you .50-1 depends on the night. If you fold before the round you can just keep your cards to the side, but you must announce it. Also once a pp has been played for the night no one else can be paid on it. Unless we cycle though all of them.

Re: What side bets do you run at your home game?

We have a running bad beat jackpot. Everyone kicks in $1 every week. The pot is awarded to the player who loses with a full house using both hole cards. The winner gets 10% of the pot. We had the pot up to $150 before it was won.
