As mentioned, play at Commerce and Bike for a taste of the L.A. experience. Commerce even has a Crowne Plaza hotel.
The $40 no limit games can get ridiculous, as stated. Avoid them unless you just need a place to park while waiting for the board to clear.
Don't forget to snag Bike house fractionals......go to the cage and ask for a stack or 2 of "peaches".....look for the sharp edges amongst the crud, and cash the rejects back in when you sit down. They will clean off very nicely when you get home.
If you can swing it, make chip runs to Hustler, Normandie, and Hollywood Park, but go during daylight and don't spend too much time in those neighborhoods...(J/K, sorta...)
If you have the time and inclination, jump onto the 210 and take a day trip to San Manuel for some Vegas blackjack and poker.... poker room is nicely appointed, if a little subdued. Pechanga in Temecula is even nicer, but much further.
