Chips: 3,401 | | | Folding Aces Preflop Folding aces. At times, can be a daunting task and decision, and often the right decision when you are simply beat and the flop is textured against you.
Which raises the question:
When do you fold Aces preflop?
Paint the scenario in which you are willing to / have folded aces preflop.
Please specify Cash game or Tourney. |

Chips: 96 | | | Re: Folding Aces Preflop Tournament: On the bubble during a Sat. when you're ok on chips (Why risk it?)
Tournament: Major tournament when you can cash for a substantial amount more by having another player get eliminated before you (depends on what you believe your chances of winning are and overall philosophy: play to win vs play to cash)
Cash Game: When having to make a large call/all-in when you've had a profitable run and are planning on leaving soon. Again, why risk your profits and have some maniac hit a random straight or flush.
Not everyone will agree, but these are about the only situations I can think of. |

I would in a satellite tourney near the bubble
If 10 players get a seat into a bigger tourney and you are near the bubble as a medium/big stack that should be able to fold their way in and the action in front of you would put my stack at risk then I would find a way to fold.
I might potentially in a regular tourney where a bunch of people were all in in front of me and moving up those spots gave me significant money jumps.
Like say main event final table, 3 people all in with 6 left and 2 people knocked out would mean going from 500k to 2 mil (I can dream can't I)

tourny: only in the case of a satellite, and only if i'm comfortable in chips and we're close to the bubble. |

| This was the scenario I envision. When I'm ready to leave, and I've had a good run, I kinda dread playing the last couple hands before the blind comes around. In limit, I'd be more willing to play it out. FYI I'm new to cash games so take that into consideration. |

You cant be afraid to move chips, scared money doesnt win...multi way all in on bubble in satellite I might lay down, then watch as I would have won the pot, then proceed with life tilt. |

If there are 10 players left in a satelite tourney giving 9 players a seat in event X and I am in the BB, with a mid-size stack accompanying my pretty little Aces and 9 players go all-in ahead of me I still push.
Ok, serious exageration. AND if I did get in that situation, I would hope I would just muck without even looking at my cards to get tempted.
I really do think that anyone willing to lay down Aces under any circumstances in a cash game should look for a new hobby. |

It really should only ever happen in tournaments, usually satellites - though the move up in the money argument would be a personal call.
IMO, if you're ever folding them in a cash game you're playing at a limit above your head. If there's a point where you're thinking "if i get AA next hand I might fold to a big allin" then you should have left the table already. |

Chips: 99 | | | Re: Folding Aces Preflop In a cash game, no way would I fold AA pf unless it is online and I misclicked. Actually there is one situation that I might fold AA's pf and that is:
1) I just brought into a game with all the money I had on me.
2) There are more than 3 all-in in front of me.
3) I know that I am a much better player than anyone else at the table and that over a period of time I will win.
If all 3 conditions are met, than it would be a good idea to fold AA's pf as your odds of winning with AA's vs more than 3 players are well less than 50% whereas if you fold, you will slowly win their chips with your superior play.
In a tourney, only if it is something like 10 spots paid the same (ie, seat to the WSOP) with 11 players left and players are all-in, would I fold AA's.
