Chips: 192 | | | Chinese Poker, Strategy/Rules/Scoring I recently learned the basics of Chinese poker, and am now interested in some strategy, rules, and the scoring system for the game. Can anyone help me out? |

Chips: 225 | | | Re: Chinese Poker, Strategy/Rules/Scoring We play with 3-4 players.
Usually we score like this:
$2-$4-$8
Your hands play against each player.
-When you beat someone 2 out of 3, he pays you $2.
-When you beat someone 3 out of 3, he pays you $4.
-When you beat all three players 3 out of 3, you "grand slammed" and everyone pays you $8.
Obviously, if you lose, the opposite applies.
You also have to factor in the "specials" (if you play with them), which will win you a few extra bucks in a hand. Usually $1 from everyone for each special if you play $2-$4-$8.
Of course you can always play smaller stakes ($1-$2-$4) or higher ($5-$10-$20). |

During the game we were talking about the extremley poor chances of getting a 13 card straight, and I picked it up two hands later . That hand plus 4 different hands were I was able to put together two Bonus Hands at once (and swept all 3 players) = Cha Ching I can see how people get addicted to this damn game |

So on any given hand, you could possibly have a combination of 3 or 4 of them.
Tonight, we actually added another twist. We were playing 3 handed while we waited for the rest of the guys. After we dealt out all 4 hands, we were each allowed to muck 1 card and replace it by choosing a random card from the dead hand, starting left of the dealer and going clock-wise so the dealer was last to choose. If your hand was good as is, you could pass your turn. Sometimes the new card made your "good" hand into a "monster" hand, and sometimes it did absolutely nothing. I recommend trying this as it makes a fun game even more interesting. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
