How to calculate % between 2 hands face-up (77-AKo=50/50)

I saw on TV a player able to calculate very fast the % between 2 hands before the flop, after the flop river and so on. Exactly like the % seen on television nears the players cards.

I know that a pair vs 2 overcard is about 50%. But for the other situation?

Is it based on calculations or by heart?

Thanks!

It's trivial to calculate that with a computer. What they do is simulate all possible boards with the cards that are already on the board (if any). They count how often each hand would win which then gives the exact percentage. Sometimes they also consider the already mucked hands.

Oh nvm, I just noticed that I misread your question.

Re: How to calculate % between 2 hands (ex: ~50/50 : 77 vs AK)

Are you talking before or after the flop?

After the flop you count the "outs". On the flop, it's about 4% per out. On the turn, it's about 2.2% per out on the turn.

If you're talking before the flop, I believe you just have to memorize the situations. 2 overcards and a pair is 50-50 (most common one). etc.

Good luck!

If it was Vanessa Rousso, I'd say she probably just guessed right.

Re: How to calculate % between 2 hands face-up (77-AKo=50/50)

Most of its from knoledge

For instance an over pair vs 2 under cards is about 80 - 20
Over pair vs under pair is about 80-20
Something like A8 vs JT is about 55-45 (where the person ahead has one over and one under card to your non paired middle cards)
One Over Card, One under card vs pair (AJ vs QQ) is 70-30

These are a few i know, and as for russo, she would have a rough idea of them but as was suggested she guessed right.

Regards
Ian

there are 160 different combinations for

AK vs 77 depending which suit you take and a lot of them will have different %

vs =47,71 vs 51,95

vs =44,47 vs 55,25

vs =45,2 vs 54,36

you could say it's about 45 % vs 55 % for the unsuited case, and on PAD they round the numbers

before the flop you can't calculate it exactly, I have seen Sklansky do it on Poker after Dark and he was not 100% accurate, you can learn all combinations but you can make more money counting cards in a Black Jack deck in a casino.

after the flop it's easier when you use the sheet and outs or a formula like this

1-3 Outs: Outs x 2 = % of hitting
3-11 Outs: (Outs x 2) + 1 = % of hitting
12+ Outs: (Outs X 2) + 2 = % of hitting

open ended straight draw( 8 outs) on the turn the chance according to sheet 17,02%

(8 x 2)+ 1= 17
