Re: plo8 tourny hand: overcall on this turn?

In Omaha, I bail unless I've got a FH draw...but that's just me. Too many folks in the hand for someone not to have a flush. Plenty of hands have your low dead too...

Re: plo8 tourny hand: overcall on this turn?

I think it's an easy fold; if you call, you're calling for one half the pot. He could certainly be betting a low and no high, but it's really an elementary fold for me here.

I know you're quite the academic player, I'd recommend the SS2 chapter on Omaha hi-low by Mark Gregorich and overseen by Bobby Baldwin. Gregorich may've seemed like a goober, if you only saw him on the PPT, but during WSOP players' poll, he was voted the number one live O8 player in the world by his peers. I read the entire chapter twice, then dealt out simulation hands for a couple hours, then played a handful of micro SNG's and was pretty confident I could play most low to mid levels after that. Once you get quartered two to three times over-playing A2/A3 for the low, you'll play smarter and more cautiously.

I played PLO for a couple years, though, before moving on to O8; I thought it was a pretty easy transition.

nah - just one of those tough hands to throw

looks real pretty - but mostly trouble

too many people in the pot to call

HU (or limit) might be woth the risk, but probably not - still pretty early

If I remember correctly, SS2 is based on limit O8. If you played a lot of O-high, the transition is easier, but it is still somewhat different. In limit, you actually have more chances of pushing non-nut flushes out of a hand like this(promotional raises as Capalletti calls them) - because you can do it on the cheap. In PLO8 - you have fewer real bluffing opportunities as it can be very costly.

Pretty much what everbody else said...too many hands out there that could have you beat hi and lo.

Now if solberg (trutan?) could tell me what he had on the 1st hand tonight, I'd be thrilled.

Hey DD. Just saw this post. If I remember correctly, I made a full house. Don't remember when, or what specific FH it was. I'll check the HH when I get home from work and post again.

Re: plo8 tourny hand: overcall on this turn?

Pretty easy fold if you're not willing to raise the pot and CB on the river. Personally, I like the raise move, but that's likely the most unforgiving move at that point.
