Chips: 529 | | | Automatically push from the SB short-stacked with huge blinds? Ok, so, I didn't use the hand converter. Oh well.

So, the pot is unopened to me in the SB, with the BB playing pretty tight. There's 775 in the pot already. I have 1810 behind my ante/blind. If I push, that makes the total pot 2585. The BB has to commit 1410 more, so his odds are around 1.83:1 to make the call if I push.
He's been playing tight, as have I, should I push here with ATC, including this 5-2s? Top 18 cash, I am in 26th position out of 26.

Also a problem in pushing with 25 is that even if you win you are still in bad shape since no one is going to respect your raises after that. In one tourney I had an M of 3 and pushed with 24 from the SB. BB called and showed 23. My first though was that I have him dominated but I quickly realized that it impossible to get help from my kicker. The pot was split, but the effect was that all my all-ins got called while no one threatened his blind at least for the short while I was still in the game. |

Chips: 2,925 | | | Re: Automatically push from the SB short-stacked with huge blinds? You've got 5 more hands before you have to pay the BB, at which point you'll be all-in no matter what... Hopefully you'll get the opportunity to open the betting with an all-in with "any cards" (hopefully better than 2-5) in one of those hands.
But if you haven't been stealing blinds lately, and have folded every hand for the last orbit or so, you might push here anyway because (a) he might give you respect if he has a below-average hand, and (b) you're going to need some luck to get back in the game no matter what you do. |

You really need to double or triple up to achieve a playable stack.
I fold and wait for something better (which will be just about anything really). |

If I win that pot, I push again as soon as I have anything resembling a good opportunity. Playing with 3-4 BB sucks ass, I just try to get back to having talking chips or go home.
You can't just wait for 8 more people to knock each other out. |

Put 6k chips in front of this guy and the push becomes a better choice but not necessarily a good choice. Small stacks shouldn't tangle with big stacks unless they have a hand; 25 is a long way from a hand. |

equity win tie pots won pots tied

with antes in play, waiting isn't free. and there's no guarantee you'll be able to get headup for a race after this, with your puny stack. you're the shorty in the tourny, and a ways until the bubble. get chips however you can.

poosh. | QFT. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is an easy push. I was going to type more but it's already here.
