Last minute advice on PLHE

OK...leaving in a couple of hours for LV

I'm playing in the PL event because there's no NL event that's convenient for me..

what's different (besdies the obvious limits) I'm assuming it plays about the same....from my limited exposure to it....

Re: Last minute advice on PLHE

The most important thing in PL is position. Play it very strong, and very aggressively. If you're not raising the pot on the button (in most cases), you should be folding the hand.

Re: Last minute advice on PLHE

I remember the last time I was at a Pot Limit table with you it don't go so well for you, but that was O8!

As I was starting my post, I was thinking you said "Limit" which, while I'm no expert, seems quite a bit different since its hard to get people off hands. But you said, Pot Limit.

Again, I'm no expert but it certainly seems closer to NL...I would think position is quite important since acting after others allows you to escalate the betting more (or not).

I'm curious to see if there are responses because I know there are quite a few Limit players here, but don't recall seeing a lot of Pot Limit discussion.

And...I already wished you good luck!

Re: Last minute advice on PLHE

I'm by no means an expert (having played very few PL games), and perhaps this is really obvious; but I found myself c/r-ing a lot more from ep to try and get more value and/or price out mp players. So, yeah, use more c/r's, but also watch out for them in lp.

Re: Last minute advice on PLHE

Hmmm. Let me start off by saying I'm jealous that you're going to Vegas.

I don't have any PLHE experience, so my advice would be to read something on PLHE to refresh you if you haven't played it very much. I believe there may be a pot limit section in Super System 2, but I wouldn't swear to it. Then again, I may be thinking of pot limit Omaha. If not, I'm sure a swing by your local bookstore on the way to the airport would yield you something helpful. Plus you'd be putting your flight time to good use. (You'll be thanking me later if it saves you from watching a crappy movie like Catwoman. No one should be confined on a plane to Vegas and forced to watch that movie! )

Have fun and give us a full report when you return.

Re: Last minute advice on PLHE

Relatively little experience playing it, but have read a fair amount more than I have played. I know the experts talk pot size control. Small feeler bets from early possition, minimum raises from late possition if you want to build the pot and take it down with a significant bet on the next card.

Be weary of a few more draws than you would expect in NL. More people feel they can't be priced out of a open-ender or a mid flush draw.

Hope this helps a little, and GL to you on your trip.
