Playing Kings from early posistion.

I've taken the train to Feltsville about 5 times in the past two weeks with KK in early position.

Let's go over a few of them...

Assume $300 in my stack in a 1/3 NL. All from UTG or UTG +1

Hand #1

Raise to $20.
Six Callers

Board T 5 2 no flush draw

My bet is $60.
1 call. It's our buddy Dan. (Phd knows all the odds and is a internet pro)

Turn card
5

I bet another $50. Get a min raise to $100

Now what?

Hand 2

raise to $20
4 callers

flop
AT6 flush draw on board.

I cbet $50 (2 callers)

turn no flush rag.

What now?

Hand 3

raise to $20 ahead of me
I re-raise to $45
1 caller ( This is the other pro in our game. Feeds at the boat and this game regularly. I frame the chips I win from him.)

Flop
567 no flush or draw.

I bet $75
He raises to $250 after about 20 sec.

Gulp. Now what?

Flop is

Re: Playing Kings from early posistion.

Well, facile comment to start.

6xBB raise 6 callers. 6xBB raise 4 callers.

Seems to me that you are doing the right thing pre-flop, and getting unlucky. Do you have any records of where you made the same raise and got fewer callers or are they all like this?

Oh, and this is why NL scares the hell out of me at these limits where the people in it clearly want to play higher. Shouldn't you be playing 5/10?

Re: Playing Kings from early posistion.

Can't say that you played anything wrong.....

Hand 1 I go broke on too.

Hand 2 I'm shutting it down after 2 flat calls on the flop.

Hand 3.....you know the guy well enough. Would he call a preflop re raise with 56,67,78 suited? (not to mention pockets that would give him a set). "Advanced" (notice the quotes) love to play these cards and bust big hands. I honestly think this is the easiest laydown of the three. Although I can say that Kings are so pretty with such a low flop. It's really the bet that makes it hard. $250 in a 1-3 limit game that you only have $300 on the table? That's a fold with 1 pair in my estimation. (unless you have a great history of this guy bluffing.) my 2 cents. (oh and I love busting with kk)

The first one would the raiser make the same move with qq or jj or a-10? Maybe.

These people consist of...

2 pros
Dentist
2 Lawyers
4 Business owners
Vet
Trust fund babies
professional magician
and us.

This used to be a lively 2/5 game. Now its a crazy 1/3 game. In play there is usually 7 or 8 grand. Twice a week.

$20 raise is good for 2-3 callers usually. $16 raise is mocked. $10 raise is considered an annoyance.

He would do it with air too. But he turns over a solid hand enough to flatten people out.

I since noticed he does not try to bluff me often since I picked him off 3 times for BIG pots.

Re: Playing Kings from early posistion.

Wow, sounds like a juicy loose game. 6 callers on almost a 7 bet pf?

1. I would reraise another $100.
2. I would bet at least 1/2 pot on turn.
3. Fold

At FL I would reraise or bet out.
