Did I play this like a Donkey ?

I had a couple of horrible hands on Friday, and got wiped out at a local card game in 2 hours...

1-3 NLHE

hand 1

I have AQh

I raise $15 pre-flop, one caller

flop comes J 6 9 h

I check
button (seems loose) bets $15 I call

turn: 3s

I check , he checks

river: 3h

I bet $75 trying to look like an overbet, representing 1 weak heart

he raises to $150, (I'm thinking he has the Kh), so I re-raise all in he calls

he had pocket jacks

I re-buy

3 hands later I [probably] look a little tilty

I have pocket Aces, raise to $18 2 callers

flop comes Kh Ks 3s

check, I check, button bets $10 (we both call)

turn is Js

check, check, check (I would've folded to a bet here)

river is Kd

player 1 bets $25
I raise to $75
button folds
player 1 re-raises to all in...I call

I realize he might have had the case king, but I called anyway, since I had second nuts...and he was in a great position to bluff there...

anyway, it was my first time playing with these guys, and I'm afraid I came across as a total doofus....

thoughts on the play?

Re: Am I a Donkey ?

Well those hands would have busted me as well.

I say you got cold decked, but that is just the sore loser in me coming out.

Good luck building the roll back up.

Re: Am I a Donkey ?

maybe im just conservative but the first hand i bet something like 50$ on the river and just call the minraise

Re: Am I a Donkey ?

bet the turn in hand one. actually a flop raise probably would have gotten the jacks to shove since noone gives you credit for a flush there.

on hand two don't ever raise the river unless this guy is just an idiot and you know you are ahead. You probably won't get paid off by a J, and if he has the K you have to fold the second nuts. Just call the $25 and hope you see a J or worse.

those are a couple pretty bad mistakes, but not that uncommon. you tried to get a little fancy in hand number one, and then made the mistake of raising when you are only getting called when you are behind in hand two.

chalk it up to experience and get'em next time.

Re: Am I a Donkey ?

on the first hand there isnt much you can do you just got pretty unlucky with the running 3s.

the second hand is different.i agree with how you played it until the river.on the river you have the full house.now after someone bets infront of you i just make the call instead of raising.i would do this because you are not going to get called by anything but something that has you beat.

good luck in the future sir.

Re: Am I a Donkey ?

Anyone can make the occasional donk move. If you've never been called a donkey at the tables then congratulations. Review your play and see what you may have done differently. You're going to get a lot of different opinions, but the only one that matters is your own in the long run.

Hey Brandy...

BET YOUR HANDS!

nothing builds a pot like money. Although you're still likely to get nailed on both hands. Not too found of the raising on the Kings hand.

I'm going broke with you in both of those hands as well.

I know, Iknow, but the first one I didn't think I'd get any callers...the second one, there was an awful lot that beat me until the river (then of course, only 1 hand beat me)
