Chips: 485 | | | What have you sacraficed when you've found the perfect table? This isn't really stratagy... more of a question that got me thinking what sort of trouble you have gotten into because you couldn't get up from the table.
It was a full 4/8 table at Diamond Lil's in Renton, WA. I won't go into huge details but it was a loose table with calling stations on my left and the only player I thought was decent on my right. Anyway I was there to kill some time between the end of work and the start of a continuing education class I am taking for work. My estimated time of playing was going to be about 90 minutes. I rarely get out to a Casino these days (have a newborn at home) but everything worked out to where I could sit for a little while.
Shortly after sitting down, I realized that the table was ripe. In the 90 minutes I was there, I was up a frustrating $75, and I say frustrating because I saw all these guys just giving their money to each other and I couldn't get in on it. So at that time I thought to myself "Screw class, I can't get up from this!" I am glad I did because in the next 3 hours I proceeded to increase my stack by a little over $500, by just playing decent poker. This also brought me home late by almost an hour to a wife that just hates the idea of chips/poker. However, she was already asleep with the baby (as is normal when I get home from class), so I avoided that pitfall altogether as well. Last night was a good night.
So what kind of trouble have you gotten into or what have you sacraficed to keep your seat at a table you knew you could run?

I have kept secrets from my wife, but with other things not Poker.Hiding your gambling activity can be a sign of addiction? I could go into a big spiel about relationships, honesty, and father hood ect... But simply; Just don't sneak around it’s not real healthy for any relationship. Just my opinion.

Chips: 19 | | | Re: What have you sacraficed when you've found the perfect table? Finding a table full of producers is a real dream. Even finding a table with one or two is pretty damn nice.
I play at least one day a week, and plan for a full session of 8-12 hours. If the situation is ripe, I’ll stretch it to 14-18 hours.
I suppose that in recent years, the only thing I’ve really sacrificed is sleep........ Life is good. |
