Re: Hand of the Day

Slow call, you have top pair and the nut flush draw....
I figure they will push on the turn, then reraise after they commit to the pot.
Steal as many chips as possible

Re: Hand of the Day

Crazy odds....Call and hope for a heart. I don't know how wh69 has been playing so far, but that is a little bit of a weak bet. Trap? Don't think so.

Re: Hand of the Day

Preflop Pot Amount: $325

Facing a bet of $100 with top pair with a nut flush draw. With no information on the player we are against I have to assume that 98 is a possible starting hand especially from the BB only having to call $100 to defend his blind.

With a bet of less than 1/3 the pot we aren't really get much information from Wildhearts69 about his hand. I am going to put in a raise here of about 250. If he calls then we know he has something and wants to play. If he reraises then our next decision to make is whether or not to push our hand.

In this situation we would have 9 outs for the flush and 2 outs for our Aces. We are 44% to win the hand. If reraised I would then be inclined to push and hope he wasn't holding two hearts or an 89 for the straight.

My assumption is that he is probably trying to defend his BB with middle or bottom pair thinking our smallish PFR was with 2 overs.

Guma,
I like your analysis. I didn't quite get there because I have a bad habit of not thinking about hands like this all the way through. I need to "practice" to get in the habit. Nice.

Re: Hand of the Day

You need to find out if his hand is made. I like the raise to $250 here. If he has the flush or straight already he will come over the top - most likely. That would leave you 7 hearts (if he has the flush already) and longshot backdoor full house possibility - not very good for Matt. If he has the straight, Matt is up to nine outs. Another possibility is a straight with a straight flush draw, which again leaves us with 7 outs. You have to get more info here and the raise to $250 should give it to you. If he were to come over the top I would be inclined to lay it down about 75% of the time. If he just calls I would think he was drawing and would have to see what happens next. If he folds, well then, that's what we really want - Matt's aces shrunk up a bit with that flop.

A push is not a terrible play, but if it's called we are most likey drawing to 7 outs - so about 30% to win. Although you might also get an all-in called here with 2 pair.

Re: Hand of the Day

Dang it how did I miss that... You are correct brake, if he has the flush then we have less outs. I forgot to take into account what he may be holding if he calls or reraises that would lessen our outs...
