If it's closer (say I have ~ 61,000 in chips), then I bet 20,000 here. I want him thinking I have the flush and am making a value bet... in case he's on a set or better 2-pair.

*EDIT* Seeing actual chip counts in the next post, then I go with Plan A - bet 30,000. If he has the flush, he should push all-in. Otherwise, I expect him to call with a set or maybe top two-pair, or fold with anything less. Then again, he could push all-in to represent the flush with something less, but is he really going to put it all on the line bluffing?
no no...the pot is 80k ish, and tran only has 60k. you wanna bet 30k, and then fold to a push? in that case the pot would be 140, and you'd be folding with 2 pair and 5:1 pot odds. no sir. you push here.

Agreed, maybe. Pushing and losing doesn't cripple you. It's the final table and you have a hand. But I am a bit "concerned" about my odds (but I do not let the odds run my play). If he has the flush, I am an 11-1 dog to hit my FH (without knowing what was folded). If he doesn't have it, he is 4-1 to hit the flush (again, without knowing what was folded). Do I bet and call a push on the turn?? If I am going to call a push anyway, why not push first?

Conclusion

With the board showing

and Doug Lee holding , he moved allin. Tran called instantly, turning over . No king or deuce came on the river, and Tran doubled up with a nice pot. Lee would be eliminated in eight place a bit later when Kido Pham flopped a straight and Lee had top pair with, ironically, a K-2.

Re: Chiptalk Hand of the Day Thread?

Ok, I know it's a $1.20 tourney, and you can't really expect good play, but the way I played this preflop is kinda bothering me. It's probably not the best play with AQo, but I'd like a bit of input. Thanks!

Re: Chiptalk Hand of the Day Thread?

Well, without any knowledge of how these players have been playing, I'd be afraid UTG has AA or KK. After UTG calls in a raise-reraise situation, I'd be apt to fold AQo, but you've got odds to call (after UTG calls T615).

After the flop, you probably would've pushed all-in anyway, given the top-pair-top-kicker with nut flush draw... at which point you might've got UTG to fold. Then you just have to hope your TPTK holds up against whatever BB pushed with.
