I suppose it might vary from one casino to the next... YMMV...

Yes, if your 1-2 table breaks, and you're sitting on 1000, you can sit down at the other 1-2 table you're moved to w/ the full 1k.

If you request a table change w/ the same 1k (and the table isn't breaking), you cannot sit down at your new table with a full stack.

This is at Foxwoods. And no, I don't get it.

Re: Casino question

That blows my mind that Foxwoods does it that way. (one casino / card room I have not visited)

I've never seen or heard of a West Coast card room or Vegas room doing that. (been to a lot of them, but not all)

Perhaps they have some logic behind it being that it is the $1/2 game, which would be their "entry level" No Limit game, but if they do it there, and not on the $2/5 game, it would seem they have some reason for it. Possibly something about the hard cores running over the small(er) stakes table or something. Who knows.

Personally, I'd take it to the floor and above if needed if someone was coming from another $2/5NL game and was going south with chips. Those chips are in play, and should stay in play.

Good info to know SM, thanks for the insight-

Re: Casino question

Yeah, I think it is mainly because the 1-2 is their entry level game. They cap the buy in at a horrible $100, and the game has a $5 time charge per half hour.

To make things worse, the min buy in is $40. But you can't rebuy for any amount if you're between $100 and $40. You have to be under $40, and then you can buy in for another $100 (essentially bringing you up to $139).

So I do believe it is done this way to "protect" all the entry level players that like the short max buy in.

The 2-5 and 5-10 games they spread are more normal: 2-5 min is $300, max $500 and you can buy back to $500 at any time. The 5-10 game has a cap of $1500, and the 10-25 game on weekends has no cap.

Once a 5-10 game broke, and a player came into my 2-5 game with $2500. After someone talked to the floor, he was forced to take all but $500 off the table. (But since that's from a different game, I agree with that ruling for this capped game)

Re: Casino question

Wow, so if you drop to $50 you're basically pushing preflop with any AK and you can't call more than a $5 raise preflop with 88? That is friggin' horrible.

Add in the fact that the standard preflop raise is either $12 or $15, and you've got the picutre of this wonderful game.

That being said, with some patience, one can build their buy in into $500 with some work, and then go play in a real game.

Re: Casino question

Skip it all together and go straight to the 2/5 or 5/10 game.
