Stop the PRESSES!!! Aces win, Aces win!!!

25 man tourney. Down to 16. 2 tables, I'm second in chips and first to act, blinds 100-200. Button is chipleader. I get dealt Aces. and I limp only because the table has been fairly tight. Everyone folds around to button, he raises to 500, SB and BB fold to me. I reraise to 1000, button calls.

Flop is:

I check. He says 5000, which almost puts me all-in. So I go ahead and say all -in. He asks, "you sure?" He immediately calls and tosses over A K. Flop and turn were blanks.

This was the perfect flop for me. Setting him up big time, TPTK no good! HE called me a bastard but thats ok, I'm the bastard with his chips. I didn't see it as a prickish move do you?

Re: Stop the PRESSES!!! Aces win, Aces win!!!

Heh, either he's not very good or he doesn't think you're very good. A LRR (limp-reraise) just SCREAMS aces or kings. Do you ever do stuff like this with lesser hands? If so, you got paid off for all of those earlier donks on this one

Go ahead and RR AI PF here if you think he's got a real hand like AK. AK can call preflop but if he misses you miss that other 700 chips or whatever.

edit: I can flat call here 30% of the time or so and play it from there too. Just don't like that commiting raise without getting it all in.

Re: Stop the PRESSES!!! Aces win, Aces win!!!

Congrats.

Not a prickish move at all; it is poker after all. Limp in UTG/UTG+1 with AA is somewhat standard at an aggressive NL table but at a fairly tight/passive table, it can be dangerous if no one reraises and 4 limpers see a flop. Personally, your min. reraise PF should have been a huge warning sign to the button. Personally, I think about it for a minute and then push PF depending on stack sizes and tournament position and say something about him trying to steal the blinds.

Yeah, this is a great place to pull the ol' glare-n-push, "Man... you been raisin' like that all day! ... bah, I can't take a flop with these!" poooooooooooosh.

Yes I see your logic. You guys are all right as usual, I should have moved all in pre flop. But isn't moving all-in after a raise a bigger warning sign then my min reraise? He may have folded his AK, and I wanted the action.

Maybe, depends on the player. If EP opponent isn't a donkey a min-raise that commits him smells fishy to me, "It's as if he... WANTS me to call."

If you moved AI PF, he may have read that as you thinking he was stealing from the button (especially with the big stack) and you were trying to push him off his hand with a bluff. He probably would have called your AI with AK thinking he had the best hand and an opportunity to bust you.

Also, likely you just had an underpair and figures he's a coinflip to take you out.
