Any quick tips for PLO8?

I think I'll warm up with a little 1/2 LO8 today and then try some micro PL to see what's going on with it. I'm starting to get a grasp of how to play LO8 and am wondering what to do about PL.

Is tighter or looser generally correct preflop (I would think tighter)?

How about postflop? I theorize that you should be a little looser with your scoop draws because of implied odds. Or do people just not pay off when you get there?

Do I still limp into pots with hands like A2HL single suited or should I be raising? folding?

Is the "correct" raise normally a pot-sized raise?

Not really looking for a complete strategy or anything, I'm mainly interested in "quick tips" that are obvious to PL players but that a limit player might overlook.

thanks in advance.

Re: Any quick tips for PLO8?

1. AAxx is more playable than in limit in position but you want to get heads up preflop if possible. Obviously, with a 2 and a suited A, its very strong. Pretty much anyone that pots preflop is scream AA, A2xx with suited A.

2. You need to be able to fold a naked nut low (no high draws). IMHO, naked nut lows in PL can be killers especially without counterfeit protection. Depending on the table, I'll go passive with these hands. The dead money from chasers can soften the quartering chance plus you'll sometimes get folks betting 2nd nut low.

3. The .10/.25 and .25/.50 are pretty soft at P* but there are a number of good players.

4. There are a lot of regulars at P* so PTO w/ PA is a good investment. It rare that I sit down at a PLO8 table and don't have 40+ hands on a player.

gl and see you at the tables

PS: Sorry for harassment at P* earlier, couldn't pass up the chance.

Re: Any quick tips for PLO8?

I guess it automatically goes through your "villian" stats and displays them in real-time from your database in Poker Tracker?

Ok, just did a quick look of it. Is this supposed to be better than GameTime+ and PlayerView (not that I know what those are either, but seems like they do the same)?

Thanks.

Preflop stays the same, not looser post. As hach mentioned, be ready to fold naked nut lows, and be wary of chasing non-nut hands.

Well, I got kinda bored/loafing/not paying attention and got SMOKED in a limit hand where I thought I had the nut high hand but was WRONG. I think I should stick with limit until I can actually read the damn board
