I don't know if his fold was due to the fear of getting out drawn by me having a set and pairing the board, or by catching running diamonds, or simply a laps in reality. |

He's holding the best hand. A diamond or a paired board on the river scare me, but you've gotta put your money in when you have the best hand - especially when you have the best hand POSSIBLE at that time. It's not like you had 18 outs here either. either you held a set OR a flush draw - you couldn't have both. So you have 9 outs - tops, to beat him.
If he's gonna be a b*tch and bet out at you b/c you tell him his hand might not be good enough (which was true if a diamond comes), he deserves to get pushed on. I don't know how you play, but if he checks, you might have checked it down too (unless a diamond comes). he made himself fold by opening the betting (emotionally, BTW)

Quads, what would you have done if LJ didn't show you his A K? |

Chips: 28 | | | Re: NL Play in S. Lake Tahoe, "No Chop.. I raise" I would have bet small, eticing a re-raise or at least growing the side pot with a call. Then, almost everytime, I would push on the river.
But we want to know about you Quad?

Chips: 3,429 | | | Re: NL Play in S. Lake Tahoe, "No Chop.. I raise" Likely that I would have checked it down with him, knowing we had the same hand... unless it came running diamonds. Then I'd open a side pot with him and (try to) talk him into a bet. |

OR
if this were a home game then maybe I would check it down.
BUT, in a casino where everybody is out to a make a profit:
I would do one of the following:
A.) I would have probably replied: "I feel like I have the best hand here and don't take it personal but I bet the pot"
B.) Not said anything at all.....took a few minutes and bet the pot.
AND after the river go all in unless the board pairs.
AS far as LJ's play here, He must be playing at to high of stakes and not managing his bankroll appropriately.
YOU CAN NOT LAY DOWN THE NUTS ON THE TURN.....
This is not a tournament!
If your opponent has a set and fills up or even rivers the flush.....
That's Poker.
I would just have to REBUY and ask the dealer to DEAL!
(and maybe make a reference to one of Laak's saying " Deal the Pain")

Drake
