Worst Hand in Poker

Saw Flop | Saw Turn | Saw River | Saw Showdown | Won
PokerStars Game #5848981082: Hold'em No Limit ($0.10/$0.25) - 2006/08/08 - 22:44:33 (ET)
Table 'Thusnelda IV' 9-max Seat #4 is the button
aceshser - $14.95
Ave Player - $24.50
jb20thae Button - $14.35
Wayne Ker - $4.15
EvilPeterPan - $9.05
#1 sluggo - $6.85
jldecarlo - $13.80
All In Guy - $6.45
PREFLOP ($0.10/$0.25)
jldecarlo is UTG+1 with J J
1 fold,
jldecarlo raises $0.75 to $1,
All In Guy calls $1,
aceshser calls $1,
Ave Player raises $2 to $3,
3 folds, jldecarlo calls $2,
All In Guy raises $3.45 to $6.45, 1 fold, Ave Player calls $3.45,
jldecarlo calls $3.45.

FLOP $20.70 (3 players)
Q 6 5
jldecarlo checks, Ave Player bets $2,
jldecarlo calls $2.

TURN $24.70 (3 players)
Q 6 5 5
jldecarlo checks,
Ave Player bets $5.35
jldecarlo folds.

So . . . All In Guy has gone all in 3 times in the 10 or so hands I've been at the table. Ave Player has played about 30% of the hands, mod aggressive at most.

Anybody fold pre-flop?

I hate Jacks (today at least).

Re: Worst Hand in Poker

After a re-raise and a re-reraise, I think I'd have dumped it knowing one of them has me beat and considering Ave has me covered.

Re: Worst Hand in Poker

Wow that's a really loose table! You'd think a 4x big blind raise in second position would knock more people out. I'd actually probably lay it down preflop or raise all in myself and hope to isolate All in Guy with A-K or something like that. I guess the call is okay too, but I really don't like checking and calling after the flop. I think you need to find out if your jacks are good by either betting or check-raising. Otherwise, just checking and folding on the flop also seems respectable. The problem with just calling is that after the flop, only the two jacks substantially improve your hand.

All around that is a tough hand because you are also out of position. So I guess the best way to alleviate that problem in a similar future incident is to either go all-in or fold preflop. Any overcard on the flop is going to be a nightmare.

BTW how did the hand turn out?

That's another good point. Now I'm really leaning toward a fold as well. I'm thinking 80% - fold, 20% All-in.

All In Guy had AK
Ave Player had AQ,
so I was beat on the flop.

In retrospect, I should have folded pre flop, I guess.

It seems likely Ave player had AA-QQ, AK, or AQ. The other guy could have had any pair, any two cards T+. I need to downlaod PokerStove and see what it says. Where is JoJo when you need him?
