| I HAD to call. Game at Stank's tonight. Blinds are 200/400. I'm in the small blind.
It's folded to the button, a pretty tight player, who calls. I look down at A9o. I have 1650 left, so I raise all-in (1450 more). So the pot is 2650. Now, keep in mind that I have my ChipTalk.net tournament victory plaque on the table with me, so everyone has to know I'm a serious player.
Anyways, the big blind, who is... um, hard to describe. He either folds or overbets the pot, and not much else. Acts like he knows a lot about poker, at least. In any event, he calls (only has 1250 more... getting about 2-to-1). The button folds and I turn over my hand. He says "you have me dominated, but I had to call. There's too much money in the pot." He had 9s6c. I was like, "yeah, definitely."
Maybe I'm on crack, but I couldn't believe he called. I mean, I was thrilled, personally, but it was pretty bizarre after he would fold to min-raises over and over again.
I'm thinking maybe he watched WPT last week and saw how important pot odds are and couldn't wait to use them in a game. I mean, even VVP knows about pot odds now. It's only taken 3 years. |
