All In or Fold?

Playing in a 15 person 3000 chip tourney. Down to 6 players. Blinds are 400/800. I'm in the small blind and the big blind is all in pre-flop. UTG+1 raises to 2000. Everyone else folds to me. I look down at Ah-Jh. I have 4000 left. UTG+1 has another 2000 left in front of her. She is a fairly loose agressive player. I feel like she could have any pocket pair 8's or better, A-xs, A-10 or better, Possibly even K-10 or better.

What do you do?

Re: All In or Fold?

I push her all in. Of course, without seeing her play, she might very well have what you suspect. But I would call her.

Re: All In or Fold?

you hav a pretty strong hand with plenty of outs......in this case play the player and not the cards. she's loose aggressive, i'd bet shes trying to steal blinds. pusher her all in. you have a good chance of catching hearts and A's and J's. She could have the nuts but she's reckless....how has she played the previous hands.....i'd like to know that,,,,but thats what i would do.

Re: All In or Fold?

From what you have said I would push all in, but one can't know for sure unless they are in the situation themself. that's my two cents.

cheers

Re: All In or Fold?

I pushed her all in. She almost folded, but then called with Ad-Qd. The big blind had Jc-6c. Ac-Kc-Qc on the flop. Then two blanks. I was down to 800. Then I made a miraculous comeback and actually finished 4th. Knocking her out in fifth place.

Re: All In or Fold?

you gave us the outcome but I would've wanted a few more tidbits of info: what was the payout structure? Was the BB all in on his blind or did he raise. To what? How many chips did *you* have?

If you already made the money I'd be inclined to push against her by going all in. If not, I'd rather hold onto my chips and see what happens--maybe get closer to the money if BB gets beat. Maybe have money disbursed evenly so the aggressive player has fewer chips to puch with. Doesn't sound like you were short stacked...

Anyway, sounds like things worked out.

Re: All In or Fold?

The big blind was all in for her last 800. I had 4800 total with 400 already in the big blind. The payout structure was 10% for 4th, 15% for 3rd, 25% for 2nd, 50% for 1st. There is also a $5 bounty on each player you knock out.

Before the hand started big blind had 800. Everyone else had between 4000 and 5000 except for the chip leader who had 20,000+.

OK. With this info, I'd have folded or called to see the flop, if I was willing to become short-stacked to some degree. With the flop presented, I would have gone all-in. Top pair, potential straight, first to act after flop and can represent holding at least one club. (I'm inclinded to think anyone who held the flush would check-raise). She'd have to be concerned about the flush and AK with the call pre-flop. Given your description of her aggresive play, I doubt checking down would happen. Anyway, I have my 'Hopin2Steal' handle for a reason...

But 75% of the time, I'd flop pre-flop. Let her steal $400 (and the $5 bounty) if she can take out the BB. AJ suited is nice but still a draw. Then I still am on par with most other players chip-wise and get the button.

Buy-in?

Pay-outs?

Size of other stacks?
