Chips: 126 | | | Would you lay it down? I'm holding
5 players on the table with 100 - 200 blinds
fold, fold, button calls the big blind, I (small blind) raise to 600, big blind calls, button calls.
3 people in this hand
now flop comes..
my heart rate changes and I check, big blind raises 400, button calls, I call
turn hits...
I raise 800, big blind calls, button calls
the river...
I raise another 1000, big blind all in, button calls, and I pause for a moment and think... "does someone have that friggin 8!!! I know one of these players has a J, Q, or a flush. I have a boat.. I gotta call!"
so I did. I'm all in..
Button holds the Ace High Flush
I have a nice boat that has just been sunk by...
the friggin big blinds quads
Do you think you could lay down what I had? |

Unless...
One time I was playing in Vegas, and this guy I was up against was so excited to have picked up quads on the turn that his hands were shaking and he was anxiously bouncing his leg up and down. If it was this obvious, I might fold.

I would have lost it all and been bitter, because there is no way you put a guy on a hand containing an 8 that calls a big pre-flop raise like that. Nevertheless I almost daily run in to these idiots that make a terrible call only to catch lucky and hose me. It doesn't matter that they are a long-term loser playing that way when they've just cleaned me out and then don't even stick around to give me a chance to win some of it back. Or worse, they stick around but I'm cold decked and I just have to sit there and steam as they give it all away to the rest of the table and go broke before I ever catch another hand. |

Chips: 47 | | | Re: Would you lay it down? Only thing I would have done different was raise more preflop, I hate aces I always try to push everyone out except the people with strong hands, I don't care if i represent aces, but 3 times the blind just aint enough for aces. I know slow playing them can make a bundle, but I just hate aces, because they are so hard to get away from. If you raised to 1000 I bet the 3,8 dude may have bailed. He made a wreckless call with 3,8 suited, but he was already in for 1/3 the bet... Sure 98% of the time you'll win that...actually less, pocket Jacks and queens beat you too, oh and 9h,10h too,so you win 90% of the time....
