Sit n' Go

Yeeeeehaw I finally won a damn NL tournament. Been getting my arse whipped a lot lately. Anyways, check out this hand... how many of you would take a card off in this situation with that bet? He really gave me a lot of crap for this. And I was so in his head after this... all I had to do was bet when a 3rd suit came on the board and he was folding, thinking all I was doing was drawing every hand.

He was the chip leader about 3 hands in... had the nuts against 3 other players and they all went all-in with him. I had like 1299 at one point in this tournament.

Re: Sit n' Go

from here: i'd fold.

in the game, i notice i make this call more often than i think i do from the comfort of the sideline. your 3 overcards out are pretty weak though. read dependent, i guess.

Re: Sit n' Go

I wouldn't have gotten attached to the 10s. He was a decent player, but he bet way too often. He would just bet every flop no matter what. So I figured I could call a smallish bet and hope for a 4 or an 8 at worst.

Re: Sit n' Go

I think calling is the right play heads up like that if you say hes been betting all the time. he could have king hi or bottom pair, so he happens to flop bottom two which is gets f'ed a lot anyway. But he could from what you said be just as likely to have bottom pair. or nothing, even if he has top pair you have seven wins against that likely or 28%, which means your a 2.5:1 dog and you got 2:1 so not a horrible call just slightly wrong but implied odds can make it ok.

So you make your hand on the turn pretty safe hand too heads up calling in position is a great play. give him the rope ot bet or bluff again on the end and stick more chips in the pot. gh and just call him a cupcake or donkey to get him really pissed for fun next time.

Re: Sit n' Go

lol I just stopped talking to him after that. He was fine until that hand. I didn't think it was that bad of a play. It sure as hell worked, because he just kept betting into me, so I was definitely right about implied odds. Against a tight player, there'd be no sense because he'd probably shut it down with 4 to a straight on the river.

Re: Sit n' Go

WTF is he whining about? He didn't raise the blinds, he min bet the flop. Its his own fault he let you catch that hand. This is no-limit isn't it? I'd have bet more on the flop than the minimum with that gutshot showing and flopping 2 pair. I don't want to be cute with this kind of hand and try to trap you, I want you to pay for your draw. His call on the river makes me think he's not looking at the board.

I mean, he says "you lucky dawg I have 36" and then calls anyways... so I don't know what his problem is. He's a typical onliner who thinks Hold'em should be a 3-card community game - whoever is leading after the flop should win. In any event, I took a risk and it paid off, just like I thought it would. He just kept betting into me even on a scary board. He should be whining about his own play.

Party, single table, ministep #1. Not like a huge score or anything, but even this little win helps when I've been sucking lately.
