Wat wuld u dew? (7CS hand)

My aces are buried, obviously. Ms. Sexbagel has been a pretty typical low-limit stud player - passive with just a pair, aggressive with two pair or better.

POKERSTARS GAME #4299699581: 7 CARD STUD LIMIT ($0.50/$1.00) - 2006/03/15 - 18:47:28 (ET)

*** 3rd STREET ***
Dealt to avarshosaz [4s]
Dealt to ramphos [2d]
Dealt to yeltzen [Ac As 6s]
Dealt to jro67 [6h]
Dealt to sexbagel [9c]
ramphos: brings-in low $0.25 (Pot $0.50)
yeltzen: calls $0.25
jro67: folds
sexbagel: calls $0.25
avarshosaz: folds

*** 4th STREET *** (Pot $1)
Dealt to ramphos [2d] [7h]
Dealt to yeltzen [Ac As 6s] [5c]
Dealt to sexbagel [9c] [6d]
sexbagel: checks
ramphos: checks
yeltzen: bets $0.50
sexbagel: calls $0.50
ramphos: folds

*** 5th STREET *** (Pot $2)
Dealt to yeltzen [Ac As 6s 5c] [Qh]
Dealt to sexbagel [9c 6d] [Ah]
sexbagel: bets $1
yeltzen: raises $1 to $2
sexbagel: calls $1

*** 6th STREET *** (Pot $6)
Dealt to yeltzen [Ac As 6s 5c Qh] [Kd]
Dealt to sexbagel [9c 6d Ah] [9d]
sexbagel: bets $1

So what do you do? Call and try to make aces up? Call it down? Raise?
I apologize in advance that this isn't Hold'em.

Re: Wat wuld u dew? (7CS hand)

it's ugly, but if he has the case ace in the hole, you've only got 6 outs (though they're all live). if he has a 9, you're pretty much dead.

since he took over the betting when his ace hit, i don't think there's anyway you're getting him off his hand, so i would rule out a raise.

if this were a higher-limit game, i'd say there's about a 90% chance that you're beat here. but in this instance i don't think you can get away from your hand for the $2 it'll cost you to see the showdown.

Re: Wat wuld u dew? (7CS hand)

disclaimer: i'm not a 7stud player, haven't played much or studied...

1) why not raise on 3rd street? just calling seems not to jibe with your aggression later in the hand
2) what do you put him on? isn't it likely he's already got aces up or trips? if so don't you likely have either 3Q outs or 1 A out?
3) i'm getting better at limit hold 'em lately, and when someone waits to raise until a later street, i'm (finally) getting better at getting out of the way. this feels like that sort of situation.
4) i'm not really a 7stud player.

Normally I would, but everyone has a pretty weak door card and the antes are low ($0.05).

I don't think they have anything better than the two nines. I have two of the aces, so theyd need the case ace. I have a 6, and someone else had a 6 for their door, so they'd need the case 6. So, there's only 4 cards they can have to beat me unless they have another pair buried. Plus, most people would check if they made trips and then raise since I've shown aggression. [/quote]

Definitely does feel like that. The only thing that seems weird is that they're betting into me when they know I'm probably going to bet.

Re: Wat wuld u dew? (7CS hand)

My 7CS experience is pretty limited as well, but I tend to agree with everyone else. Aces up or trip nines seem the most likely, in which you have only 6 or 1 out(s).

What other hands would he still be in with here? Maybe 78? And now he bets out to see why you have been betting the whole time? He is showing a pair, where as you are not, and has an Ace up, where as you are not. I think this is one of the times when you have to ask how capable he is of reading you. It would probably be hard for him to think you have Aces in the hole - maybe he is trying to see where you are at, I don't know. This seems possible but not especially likely. If he has some small pocket pair, then your outs increase to 12 (I think) and you might think about calling, but it seems unlikey.

My instinct says to fold, but in the end I think your read of him, and what you think your table image is here affects your decision alot.
