Chips: 7,134 | | | God I hate AK (Tourney Hand). I hate hands like this when the guy goes all in with a huge stack because I don't have enough time to subtract the overbet from the pot to see what I'm getting. What would you do?
POKERSTARS GAME #4244004309: TOURNAMENT #21092632, HOLD'EM NO LIMIT - LEVEL VIII (200/400) - 2006/03/10 - 21:11:33 (ET)

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to yeltzen [As Kc]
Firehead: folds
jimbo91300: folds
MrJitters: folds
WhoNeeds$: folds
yeltzen: raises 1200 to 1600
RedBlack82: raises 6960 to 8560 and is all-in
zenta29: folds
sinko: calls 1667 and is all-in
So after the hand, I can see that there's 800 starting, plust my 1600, plus the all in (which ends up being 5479), plus 1667 of the other guy's all in.
Pot = 9546 (I'm sorry if this is wrong).
To Call = 3879
Odds ~ 2.46:1
In the heat of the moment, I just couldn't figure this all out (the clock got started really quickly for some reason). I tried to slow down to do it, but I was a little flustered I guess. In any event, I was getting better odds than I figured. Thoughts? |

Your M sux and almost trippling up would be refreshing

Chips: 120 | | | Re: God I hate AK (Tourney Hand). Call. If you fold your M is just under 5. The reraiser is trying to isolate so I assume its a mid to high PP. Race it out and hope your opponent's pocket tens don't make a set on the flop when you hit that king. Whoops wrong tournament.
What you really hope for is that the shortstack BB doesn't have AA or KK knocking down your outs to beat out the reraiser. |

Even so, I probably call. |

Well? What happened?

Like I said, I was scrambling around trying to figure out what the pot was laying and never really calmed down enough to do it. So I folded. Re-raiser had QQ, short stack had AdJd. Flop had an A and I would have won.
I really put too much credence in the small stack's call. I'm not sure why. But it would help a lot if these online sites could subtract the overbet in situations like this. It's hard to sit there and count little graphic chips. |

Chips: 2,938 | | | Re: God I hate AK (Tourney Hand). Last night at our ring game I got AK about 6 times.
Each time I pushed about 3-5x the BB pre-flop, and only ONCE did the flop hit anything to improve my hand, , and once I won just the blinds. 4 of the six times I was faced with a half pot sized post flop raise into me, or a re-raise to my post flop opening raise. -pitch-
Hate that hand now, and it makes me wince just like JJ does.
These two hands will always cost you pre-flop to play correctly, and as strong as they seem in the hole, they seem like a paper tiger once the wrong cards hit the board. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
